Two months later, investigators found their remains, as well as a backpack with a digital camera filled with photos that hinted at a darker story. What happened to Kris and Lisanne? In this investigative series, journalists Mariana Atencio and Jeremy Kryt retrace the last steps of the doomed women. Their search for the truth immerses them in eight years’ worth of conflicting evidence, testimonies, and rumors, as on-the-ground witnesses in Panama come forward for the first time. This explosive new evidence sets off a real-time race to reopen the case, and finally get justice for Kris and Lisanne.

Customer Reviews
Very good.
The investigation does highlight enough to warrant it being opened again but in that part of the world where life is cheap and women are not respected the authorities won’t do anything. It’s tragic and underlines why certain places and people should be avoided at all costs. Terribly sad.
A case that will never be solved
I stumbled across this case when it appeared as a post on my twitter feed. I found this pod cast after a bit of googling into the case. Such a tragic but intriguing case and one no one will solve.
I’m not sold on the murder theory, too many holes.
The problem with all the “stories” of murder are that they’re just that, stories, and no one can corroborate them. Wherever you have local gangs, stories of what they get up to are always prominent. Some true. Some not. And the gangs will never deflect them because it’s in their interest for locals to live in fear of them.
No one living in the area will give them up.
Poor Journalism
Mariana tells us nothing new and comes to no conclusion. The evidence presented to support the murder theory is completely nonsensical and debunked within the podcast anyway.
Mariana also bangs on about the girl’s ethnicity, and complains that global media does not report on violence against local women - but no real conclusion is reached regarding media bias or violence toward women in Central America.
The highlight for me was when the random German tourists where roped into a sting operation.
