EP 81: The Challenges of Being First Lady: A Deep-Dive Into White House Life

So much news coverage is devoted to the president, but it turns out that first ladies have had an incredibly influential and undercovered role in many White Houses. At the same time, it is an often thankless job that receives a lot of scrutiny.

Mosheh sits down with New York Times White House correspondent and author, Katie Rogers, exploring her new book, ‘American Woman: The Transformation of the Modern First Lady.’

In our conversation, we dive straight into Jill Biden's role in the White House, especially when it comes to managing crises, from international wars to the struggles of Hunter Biden–including what it means that she is the family “grudge holder.”

This edition also delves into how several other recent first ladies—Melania Trump, Michelle Obama, Laura Bush, and Hillary Clinton–how each viewed their roles over the last 30 years, and some surprising revelations about their time in the White House.

EP 79: Inside ‘Quiet on Set’ and Allegations of Abuse at Nickelodeon

This episode is a deep-dive into the most streamed documentary in America: ‘Quiet on Set.’ The series focuses on Nickelodeon, and startling claims of a toxic work environment for child stars and abuse at the network.
Mosheh is joined by Kate Taylor, senior correspondent at Business Insider, to explore the unsettling realities unveiled in the documentary. Her reporting and investigation in 2022 first revealed a number of issues, and inspired the making of ‘Quiet on Set.’
Taylor takes us behind the scenes into how she was first tipped off to the story, what she learned in her reporting, the making of the documentary and who would speak with her and who would not. We discuss what policies and laws need to change to ensure child actors are working in a safe environment and pedophiles cannot work around kids.

EP 78: Breaking Down Media Bias In America

EP 78: Breaking Down Media Bias In America

One of the most common questions we get at Mo News is related to media bias and finding trustworthy, non-partisan sources.

Mosheh sits down with Vanessa Otero, the founder of AdFontes and the creator behind the influential Media Bias Chart–which breaks down thousands of news sources based both on political bias and reliability.

We delve into the complexities of bias, media bias and the reasons as to why it has gotten worse in recent years. Otero shares her expert insights on the landscape of news media, highlighting their process behind ranking news organizations, including a discussion on Mo News' placement in AdFontes' latest charts. This conversation gets into why “middle” is not always best and offers a unique perspective on discerning news quality and bias.

EP 77: Tyranny of the Minority: Cracks in American Democracy and How It Can Be Fixed

EP 77: Tyranny of the Minority: Cracks in American Democracy and How It Can Be Fixed

American democracy has a number of challenges as it approaches its 250th birthday in 2026. The US has one of hardest constitutions in the world to amend, and is the only country to use an electoral college vs popular vote to elect presidents as well as the only democratic nation to allow for lifetime appointments of federal judges. Add in the filibuster and a less and less representative US Senate, there are a number of antiquated systems that give power to the minority over the majority in America.

In today’s episode we speak with author and government professor Steven Levitsky about his new book, Tyranny of the Minority. We dive into why we have the system we have, and potential solutions as we see cracks in American democracy in the aftermath of 2020 and the January 6 attack on the Capitol.

EP 76: UFO Coverup: Inside the US Government’s Search of Alien Life

EP 76: UFO Coverup: Inside the US Government’s Search of Alien Life

America has long been obsessed with the idea of alien life and UFOS, especially as the US government has been less than open about what it has known for years.

A new book tells the incredible history going back a century, and why the US government coverup has been less about what it does know, and more about what it doesn’t.

Mosheh speaks with Garrett Graff, the author of “UFO: The Inside Story of the US Government's Search of Alien Life,” about the likelihood that we have encountered aliens, what is behind the decades of coverups, which presidents were most obsessed with UFOS (amazing history here) and the recent move to take unexplained objects much more seriously.
