Communication: the Lubrication for Relationships with Renelle Nelson

Communication: the Lubrication for Relationships with Renelle Nelson

I'm honoured to have had the chance to bring listener favourite Renelle Nelson back onto the podcast for a continued discussion around sex, relationships, and communication - and this one is JUICY!
Renelle is an infidelity/intimacy recovery Strategist assisting individuals and couples with healing from the residue of betrayal and learning how to reconnect back to themselves, life, relationships and pleasure. Renelle is a Licensed marriage and family therapist and also a certified sex therapist and coach. She has been assisting individuals and couples with change for over 10 years.
Renelle's wisdom and knowledge in this field is astounding, and we went deep into a lot of topics including:
Communication *before* getting to the bedroom - and why it will make your sex life far better Trust, transparency, and how to strengthen your relationship The difference between checking in with your partner and actually connecting with your partner - and how to start those kinds of deeper level conversations How to figure out if you feel emotionally safe with your partner Why expectations will break your heart, and making assumptions will kill your relationship faster than any affair The importance of active listening Why good relationships require you to leave your ego at the door Giving versus receiving pleasure This conversation was one of my favourites, and you can hear more of Renelle on episode 136 of the podcast as well.
Make sure to connect with Renelle below and grab her brand new Pleasure Agenda!

20 Things Not Worth Postponing in Life

20 Things Not Worth Postponing in Life

Another trip around the sun, and 2020 in particular has taught us many lessons that we didn't even know we needed.
One lesson in particular that has stood out to me is that anything can happen, and not to put off doing certain things.
Some examples of things to *not* postpone:
Reaching out when you miss someone or you think of them. Telling people we love them, even when it means we have to put aside our pride and ego to do so. Making hard choices that others won’t if it will bring you peace Showing compassion towards yourself and others Caring for your physical health Learning to let go and release expectations Tune in for the full list...and a few stories to go with them.

    How to Become More Interesting

    How to Become More Interesting

We're all drawn to people we find interesting.
Whether it's in business, life or a variety of other relationships, no one wants to be the boring one in the room.
And in my experience, the people I've had the pleasure of coming across who are the most interesting seem to share a variety of characteristics.
Today we're breaking down the 11 ways to become more interesting. And it *doesn't* involve travelling to 69 different countries or working a bunch of super obscure jobs.

Gossiping: Evolution, Connection & the Harm it Can Create

Gossiping: Evolution, Connection & the Harm it Can Create

“Gossiping is motivated by a desire to be closer to the person you’re talking to. When you notice you’re talking together about someone who isn’t there, pause and check in with yourself. What might you be avoiding talking about?”
    -Dr. Alexandra H. Soloman

We've all gossiped, let's be honest. In fact, for the average person, gossip makes up 80% of our conversations as human beings.
And while most of us think of gossip as negative, there are actually evolutionary roots to gossip that have had positive benefits to us as human beings.
But overall, there's a lot of gossip that can be harmful, both to the person being discussed and the one doing the gossiping.
Because that’s the thing about gossiping: when I hear someone talking about somebody else in a really shitty way, my first thought is: what are they saying about me when my back is turned then?
In this episode we'll get into:
How gossip can be used as a form of bonding, and why that can be incredibly negative What gossiping can tell you about a person Turning around a connection with someone who only wants to gossip Why intention matters when it comes to gossip and how to spot the differences Asking yourself how you want to show up in the world and the kind of human you want to become

[BIZ TIPS] Re-Examining Your Definition of Success

[BIZ TIPS] Re-Examining Your Definition of Success

There are two things you need to be asking yourself to create your own version of success:
    1. Get clear on your WHY. Why do you do what you do? Dig deep - this can’t just be about the money. There has to be more to it than that.
    2. What do you want? What feels good to you? And most importantly, when you make a decision (or someone offers you a suggestion) and you try it on for size, how does it feel for you?
