S1: Ep8: Mike McIntyre: My Shadow‪!‬ Out of the Shadows with Eilidh McIntyre

    • Sport

This is the way I always wanted to close the first series; by speaking to my shadow, my hero, my inspiration... my Dad!  Mike McIntyre overcame devastating defeat at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics to win gold, against the odds, at Seoul 1988.  For my whole life, I've wanted to emulate his achievement and, in Tokyo in 2021, I managed to win my own Olympic Sailing gold.  Two in one household!  I know, crazy!   We've never properly sat down to talk about the significance of it; how I felt growing up in his shadow, how he felt when I achieved my dream.  It's time to put that right!  Standby for some emotional moments plus some low-budget adventures of being an under-funded athlete in the 1980s!

Thanks for listening to series one of "Out of the Shadows" in association with Quote Search, a NinetyFour19 production.  Please check out previous episodes in the series and leave a review, if you can, wherever you get your podcasts.  Thanks and Happy Christmas!
