Southlake, Texas, seems to have it all: stately homes, intense civic pride, and above all, terrific schools. So when a video surfaced in 2018 showing Southlake high school students chanting the N-word—and when Black residents came forward to share stories of racist harassment and bullying—the school board vowed to make changes. But the unveiling of the Cultural Competence Action Plan set off a backlash that’s consumed Southlake, fueled by a growing national crusade against critical race theory. Fascinating and important
This was a very well presented look at the rise of right wing conservatism in the US . Impressive, disturbing and important
Good even for a moderate
There’s obviously a left wing biased throughout this podcast, but it is a good listen even for the silent majority who reject woke ideology. It’s a very well made podcast, slightly biased but at least they do ask the other side their opinion. Would recommend to all.
Self entitlement gone mad.
Interesting to listen to the first couple of episodes just to witness how mad the world has become. The school is not a private school so parents and students alike should expect tensions within as it is most likely run on a shoe string budget with demotivated educators.The evidence of chronic self entitlement is all pervasive. From a student upset at her pronouns to parents frustrated that they cannot afford a private school, one gets a pretty clear indication of the impact of social media on humanity. The fact that the journalists even considered this an important documentary is utter madness.
