    Bear Brook & Forensic Genealogy

    Bear Brook & Forensic Genealogy

This episode originally aired as a Patreon bonus episode in November 2020.
Four bodies in two barrels were found 15 years apart in Bear Brook State Park in New Hampshire. This 35-year-old case is only partly solved, but what is solved is because of Forensic Genealogy.
This month we’re looking into the incredible story of the Bear Brook Murders and their investigation, how forensic genealogy was first used as a crime-fighting tool, and some of the potential risks and dangers of this shiny new technology, which is perhaps one of the biggest developments in forensic science since the development of DNA profiling.

    The Mad Bomber

    The Mad Bomber

**This episode originally aired as a Patron bonus episode in October 2020.**
For 16 years New York City was under attack by a serial bomber. In the 1940s and 50s The Mad Bomber placed dozens of bombs around New York City in theatres, businesses, train stations, and libraries. The bombs left an entire city on edge for years as the police desperately searched for their creator.
Thanks to some smart thinking by investigators the Mad Bomber case used one of the very first criminal psychological profiles created by a psychiatrist and opened the door for a whole new investigation technique.

Bluelg ,

It’s a must!

I was kinda late to the party but this podcast was recommended to me to help me cope through the last lockdown!

What can I say apart from I love it! Just finished the most recent episode! I find myself getting lost in every episode and forget that I’m actually sitting listening to a podcast, it’s like I’m sitting with 2 friends listening to them talking about a little part of history. (Especially that of Glasgow, as a Scot living just outside Glasgow most of the stories I hadn’t even heard of so it was great learning about these).

I also love the well researched, general laid-backness of the shows, I get you script to a certain point but the going off track a little adds to the humour between 2 friends.

Can’t wait to hear more!

FUN!

Really enjoy listening to these two. Love a good sidetracked story and the giggles they get themselves into. So happy KJ told me about this podcast.
