Still Pretty, a Buffy the Vampire Slayer podcast

I revisited Buffy for the first time in 20years. I would have preferred a spoiler free pod but I loved these presenters over any other podcast so stuck with it despite the spoilers of things I couldn’t remember. Loved the intelligent and thoughtful insight, and wonderful personalities.

… into this crazy wonderful world, it’s characters, their decisions and the philosophy behind it all, something that is definitely there. Instead, a lot of details are sadly overlooked and replaced by social commentary, especially by one of the two hosts who can’t seem to talk about anything without mentioning racism and sexism. Takes me queue out of it and sours one of my favourite tv shows of all time.

Having rewatched Buffy it was great to listen to this podcast and hear discussions of some of the themes throughout the years, which only happens when you have spoilers for the whole Buffy universe.

I really enjoy this podcast and will miss it when to ends. Its strength is that it’s completely spoiled and therefore allows a full context analysis and deep dive into each episode. I listen to it mainly for Lani’s thoughtful and knowledgeable insight. I like that Noelle offers interesting counterpoints, but sometimes she can come across as being a wee bit contrary. Shoutout must also go to the wonderful Dr Kelly Jones who occasionally makes a guest appearance.
