A fabulous podcast about lifelong friendships.

Incredible ineptitude and superb entertainment

I was recommended to listen to this podcast by a friend and long time player of Dungeons and Dragons.

I ran the Age of Worms for a total of six years using the V3.5 ruleset and it was a slog.
Brutal, intense and thoroughly demoralising.
Players were crushed, ground up and spat out every session.

To the point that I am still reminded of certain unfair situations, PTSD the players say, which arose during my game sessions.

Imagine my delight when I settled down to listen to the Hilltoppers tackle the first module “The whispering cairn” and actually enjoy the camaraderie that is evident around the game table.

Over the course of the following episodes the hapless adventurers bumbled, fumbled, argued and quibbled. Rules discussions peppered the sessions yet, I was hooked, this group entertains and continues to surprise the listener.

The ridiculous, roll a dice magic allocation system is bonkers yet incredibly satisfying.

The interaction between players and DM is comical bordering on genius.

The DM manages to weave a beautifully crafted narrative into a series of short adventures which the characters oftentimes derail with astute nay miraculous moments, even if their plans are not executed with aplomb.

Listen to this one it is insanely good.

👍👍👍
