The Bye-Bye High Sky I.Q. Murder Case (1977)

The Bye-Bye High Sky I.Q. Murder Case (1977)

Accountant and certified genius Oliver Brandt (Theodore Bikel) is threatened with exposure by his business partner for embezzling funds from their clients.  Brandt executes a Rube Goldberg-esque murder scheme to murder his colleague at the home of the Sigma Society, a club for individuals with remarkably high I.Q.'s.  Brandt soon finds out he may not be the smartest man in the room when Columbo is assigned to the case.  Is this episode as smart as a tack?  Or is it as dumb as a post?  Listen in and find out what Steve and Sean think!

    Murder Under Glass (1978)

When affluent restaurant critic Paul Gerard (Louis Jourdan) finds himself in a pickle of a disagreement with the owner of a successful Italian restaurant, he kills the main by poisoning a bottle of wine.  Columbo is hot on the case, and he's pretty sure Gerard is his murderer, but he can't figure out how the poison got into the bottle.  Is this one a Michelin three star?  Or is it as palatable as a gas station burrito?  Listen in and find out what Steve and Sean think!

Electronics engineer Harold van Wyke (Oskar Werner) murders his mother-in-law to retain his role in the family business and to cover up his extramarital affairs.  When Columbo stumbles upon the crime scene, however, Van Wyke soon realizes that it's going to take more than just some fancy videotape equipment to outsmart the policeman.  Is this one worthy of the top shelf at Blockbuster?  Or will you find it in the bargain bin at Target?  Listen in and find out what Steve and Sean think!

Love it

Very late to the party - only ten episodes in and long after the last episode, but loving it. The other reviews will tell you how good this podcast is. All I have to add is that somehow two dudes talking about a show they love, from way back then, works a treat.

I hope this podcast stays available (what happened to the Tardis Tavern?) so it can be recognised for what it is - a little-known gem.

Just Wonderful😍

I know I am massively late to the party here but I just had to say how much I adore this podcast . I have been a fan of Columbo for over 20 years and have never met anyone who shared my love for the rumpled sleuth ( My husband has wearily accepted my odd obsession and bought me Madame Columbo in French on DVD this Christmas -fortunately you can switch the french subtitles off ). I only got into podcasts a couple of years ago and it never occurred to me there would be, not one but three podcasts about Columbo! This is by far the best though . I could happily listen to Sean and Steve all day .. sometimes agreeing with them ..Sean absolutely correct in loving the 90’s George Hamilton episode , Steve absolutely correct that Word Games is the best Mrs Columbo episode, but both of them entirely wrong about The Conspirators which is one of the most irritating episodes of Columbo ever made ... but that is what makes this podcast so enjoyable ... we all have different opinions, but we all love Columbo... and of course we all LOVE clues ! 😁

The Best Columbo Podcast!

Tried the other podcasts about the legend that is Columbo. Gave up on the others, apart from this and the Scottish one. The scottish one is just about alright, but Steve and Sean seem on the same wave length as me. Its like watching the episode again when I listen to these guys, and makes work passable. I do like the way, as Columbo fans, as much as we love the show, we can never agree on the best and worst episodes, for me The Conspirators is one of the worst columbo episodes, but some people love it! Thank you for sharing the Columbo love. Whats next after you have finished on the super Sleuth ?
