The Happy Heat Pump Podcast
Evan Davis & Bean Beanland talk about anything and everything to do with Heat Pumps. It's a UK objective to replace gas boilers over the coming two decades, with heat pumps being seen as the obvious alternative. It will be a massive project to change the way we heat our homes - we might be installing 25 million of these devices in the next three decades. So what are they? What do they cost? What are the positives and negatives of heat pumps? Always curious about the scale of the transition upon which we are set to embark, Evan will be looking at heat pumps in a dispassionate way, with Bean helping along the way… hoping to inform you if you’re thinking of buying one, if you work in the industry, or if you are simply interested in the journey to net zero. Please do get in touch with any questions and we will try to answer them in future.

This podcast is great, and well timed. I’m hoping to install a HP, and solar/battery, and run my EV, after a renovation this year this year, and I’m finding the podcast very helpful indeed. I’ve struggled a bit to find the right quality of information- not dumbed down, but not just trying to interpret spec sheets, to make informed decisions now about the design of the large renovation. Feel free to recommend sources of info for system design too please! Eg solar/battery/HP - what do I need to know?! But really enjoying this pod

Excellent content. However millions like me live in a flat. What are the alternatives available when our gas boiler needs replacing? Will we have heat pumps covering our external walls?
Good combi!

Good to see this being done. I've learned myself how a larger than average home can be better heated with few changes to existing pipework (4-5 upgraded radiators only), and at lower cost than gas, once configured. Always hot water. My set up has higher than average powered twin fan air source heat pump but only runs in X3 cheap electricity tariff windows per day/night. 1963 detached house stays within 2-3C all day and night.
Excellent podcast!

We have a new build with ground source heating. We’ve learned about and been very pleased with it for the the two years we’ve lived with it so far. I’ve listened to the first episode proper and already I know more about theses systems than I already did. Looking forward to the other episodes!!!
