Episode 67: Graham Coxon, Blur

The James McMahon Music Podcast

I cannot even begin tell you just how obsessed I was with the pop band Blur when I was a teenager. And so it was extremely exciting to get the opportunity to speak to that band’s guitarist, Graham Coxon – who was always my favourite – for this edition of the podcast (and for a bigger newspaper article coming soon).

I’ve interviewed Graham before, years ago, in my NME days, in a coffee shop in Camden. I remember the coffee machine being loud and not being able to hear what he was saying. It was quite farcical really. I’m pleased to report, however, that this conversation - about Graham’s excellent memoir, Verse, Chorus, Monster!, out now on Faber & Faber, his always interesting solo career, his thoughts on Gorillaz, the virtual band conceived by his longtime Blur running mate Damon Albarn, and his plans for the future – which principally involves his new band The Waeve with new partner Rose Elinor Dougall - new partner in every sense of the word - sounds clean as a whistle. I really enjoyed doing this episode. Hope you enjoy listening to it!
