I love Alexei and The Last Video Store!

I was brought here by the one true prince, Sam Campbell. Alexei is my new hero and I am now a weekly visitor to the store. It’s lovely to listen to someone being so passionately positive about movies. Movies are the best! I would like to select Society of the Snow as my new release, and I’ll take Bronson and Frances Ha for my weeklies. Thank you!

Alexei is one of the best personalities in film discussion!

As is to be expected, Alexei completely knocks it out of the park with this wonderfully formatted film podcast! Alexei has the great gift that is too rare in film criticism in that he will meet a film exactly where it is being pitched which leads to better discussion about genre and popcorn flicks than you get in most places! With great guests added to the mix who always come with interesting picks and a space where film is loved above anything else, it makes for a podcast that immediately slots into the weekly rotation! If I was lucky enough to be graced by the great cinephile, my choices would be a new release of Dune Part 2 with my weeklies being Jurassic Park and The Shining!
Best Video Store

I’ve been a big fan of Alexei’s since Finding Drago, and am loving this new format with The Last Video Store. It really takes me back to browsing the shelves for hidden gems, with the occasional glance over to that curious beaded partition, for what felt like hours at a time. It’s always great discovering new flicks, and I’ve added several to my list thanks to this pod. I’m part of a podcast called DIABOLICAL: Evil Schemes Done Better where we discuss film’s most dastardly plans before competing to improve them. Could you recommend me a film off the beaten track that has a truly Diabolical scheme, Alexei?
