Ep 274 - Kyle Cosson & Ollie Green - A flying start at Newmarket CC & trainers set for charity match

Today’s show has a mixture of both cricket and horse racing as I return to the home of racing, to talk local cricket in my case with Newmarket Cricket
Club players Ollie Green and their new overseas player from Perth, Australia, 21-year-old Kyle Cosson. The pair bring us on all the news at Newmarket CC both on and off the field.
On the field the club has made a flying start to the season, and in form batsman Kyle gives his thoughts on the 1st XI who are challenging for promotion in the Onyx Cricket Cambs and Hunts Premier League division 2, while Ollie, one of the club’s groundman discusses the Suffolk side’s move from Newmarket to Dullingham at the end of the 2022 season.
The popular Suffolk side are shortly due to host their annual charity match against a Racing and Trainers XI on Sunday 14 July with leading Newmarket trainers George Boughey, Chalie Fellowes and George Scott set to play at the Dullingham sports field.
A competitive match is expected in support of a new racing charity, details of which are revealed later in the show by Newmarket 1st XI captain and Vice Chairman Mark Nunn.
A bit of everything in today’s show.

Ep 273 - Ron Hutchinson - The Ascot Gold Cup - Hutchy's dream come true

Welcome to the second of our Royal Ascot shows where I would like to take you back 50 years to the day when Australian jockey Ron Hutchinson won the Ascot Gold Cup on the Duke of Norfolk’s’ horse Ragstone
Ron Hutchinson, now a sprightly 96 years old joined me from his family home in Melbourne to remember a dream day in his long racing career when Ragstone, a horse bred by the Duke got up to win the most prestigious prize of the Royal meeting.
Ron is the main guest on this Royal Ascot feature episode alongside another Gold Cup winner in Michael Hills, who won the race in 1994 and Tim Cox a former trustee of the National Horse Racing Museum and owner of the Cox Library.
Tim provides some historical knowledge about the Royal meeting while Michael adds his thoughts on what a horse needs to win the 2 two-mile four-furlong Group 1 contest.
20 June 1974 was Hutchy’s dream day at Royal Ascot.

Our next Royal Ascot show coming soon features 96-year-old Ron Hutchinson, the Australian legend who chats about his win in the Ascot Gold Cup, fifty years ago on the Duke of Norfolk’s horse Ragstone.

    In the Pavilion
What was it like to....Win the T20 World Cup?
In Episode 15 of a series where I pose the question ‘What was it like to….
I spoke to Mike Yardy, the Sussex CCC and England all rounder about winning the 2010 T20 World Cup, the first World Cup win by an England men’s team.
In a wide ranging, insightful interview Mike talks about the beginning of T20 cricket in 2003, success leading Sussex CCC, his first call up for England in 2006, and subsequent return for the 2010 World Cup where his slow left arm bowling played a key role in England's trophy winning side.
