As 8 Passengers’ following grows, so do their subscribers' concerns about the welfare of Ruby Franke’s children. Specifically her oldest son, Chad, who becomes noticeably absent from vlogs in the summer of 2019. Viewers press in the comments for answers as to his whereabouts, and what they learn provides more clues into Ruby’s punitive parenting philosophy.

Ruby’s vlogs see a shift in their consistency and messaging. 8 Passengers’ family diary style videos are now peppered with self-improvement advice. Ruby shares news that she’s now affiliated with a program called “ConneXions”, which is owned and operated by a woman named Jodi Hildebrandt. And under the influence of Jodi’s counseling, both Ruby’s marriage and family life are turned upside down.

Law enforcement across Utah jump into action after a 911 dispatcher in Ivins receives an alarming call from Jodi Hildebrandt’s neighbor. As the day unfolds, the extent of Jodi and Ruby’s disciplinary practices are revealed, and they are nothing short of shocking. The two women are thrust into the national spotlight and are forced to face the consequences.

    Guilty as Sin

Ruby and Jodi’s abusive ways are no longer just speculative. Now that the two have been formally charged, the details of their actions become public record. What the court documents reveal are worse than anyone could have imagined. And, the treatment Russel and Eve suffered under Jodi’s roof catches the attention of someone from Jodi’s past who says they were subjected to nearly identical treatment.

Two sadists (R & J) and a sloppy fanatic (the husband)

Don’t be fooled. Ruby and Jodie are essentially two sadists that found their motivation and justification in extremist and punitive beliefs. Sickening sadistic minds. There’s no plagiarism, R was like that to begin with!
Ruby’s husband on the other hand is a sloppy passive fanatic himself. It is clear, now we listened to his interview with the police, that he cared more about his wife than his kids.
Shacking to hear that the very first thing he said when he learned what’d happened to his kids at the police station for the very first time, was ‘what will happen to my wife? I love and trust my wife’. Not ‘how are my children (having just learned they’re malnourished and injured), or where are my other 4 children? No. Where’s my wife- I love my wife.
SHOCKING. He is as culpable as Ruby is.

Ok start but can’t access any more episodes without paying more

Only releasing 1 episode for non subscribers in a bid to get listeners to subscribe for full access is flawed. Even as an avid podcast listener not going to pay just to get access to one podcast series. There are too many other quality gripping podcasts available via other channels without subscriber access required to make you disengage. Agree with other reviewers - just make available on Wondery plus & remove from other platforms. Good first episode but not nearly enough to warrant this decision

Subscription

Stop putting pods on the app that we need to pay for a subscription for. Very annoying
