UBS On-Air: Paul Donovan Daily Audio 'US tax increases next week?'

Media reports suggest US President Biden plans to announce new taxes on US consumers of products from China, specifically, electric vehicles and solar products. These taxes are not as broad as the consumer taxes imposed by US President Trump, but they are reflective of the trends of scapegoat economics and prejudice politics. Economic nationalism is a specific manifestation of those trends.

UBS On-Air: Paul Donovan Daily Audio 'Following Swiss leadership'

UBS On-Air: Paul Donovan Daily Audio 'Following Swiss leadership'

Sweden’s Riksbank followed the Swiss National Bank’s leadership with an interest rate cut. The move was generally though not universally expected by financial markets. The press conference implied that lower inflation was driving interest rates lower, and that more rate cuts may be forthcoming later this year.

UBS On-Air: Paul Donovan Daily Audio 'Rate cuts ahead?'

UBS On-Air: Paul Donovan Daily Audio 'Rate cuts ahead?'

Sweden’s Riksbank is expected to cut interest rates at its meeting today (this is a widespread but not a universal expectation). Swedish inflation is some way above 2%, but the trend has been for slower price increase. In cutting rates, the Riksbank would simply be following inflation lower (as with the earlier Swiss rate cut).

Paul donovan best one

The format of the Paul Donovan one is perfect. Short and sweet. Extra points for the accent and dry humour, makes you feel you are having a pint in a pub with thick carpet that smells of butter and a dartboard with one dart.
The other ones are good but a bit repetitive, ESG, the new normal, etc... we can talk for hours but not very practical or insightful, everyone says the same thing.
UBS should look into the format of the MS ones, short, and with guests like the GS ones (different business units, to go deep into something, the rates person, the prime brokerage person, the fx desk person, etc tell us whats happening, but just 5 minutes max).

Disappointed

The podcast from PD is great the rest so and so.
The most annoying thing is that the last 5/6 episodes aren’t possible to play, most probably due to an upload error.
From UBS I expect better quality & execution.

5 Stars for Paul Donovan. In fact set up an individual channel for his work to save me marking the other casts as read every day, to clear the downloads.
