    I can’t recall having heard that term before the COVID-19 pandemic, but that’s one of the things which has emerged from this situation, new language, new terminology but also new mindset, better mindset and a stronger mindset.
    Lorna wrote a post on LinkedIn which took a glass-half-full perspective - that being furloughed actually is an opportunity to rethink what you are doing, why you are doing what you are doing and what you can and want do next.     How are you doing this week? There are signs that restrictions have been lifted here. Shops are opening and some businesses are reopening although it's going to be to a very different world.
    Some of the trainers I have been speaking to I doing okay, some are doing well and some are not doing so well.
    Many trainers have no idea where money is going to come in the summer months because the summer months are sometimes dry months and they're dreading September particularly if there are no on-site training programs.
    Everyone is scrambling to produce programs and deliver programs online, but as I explained last week or the week before, I think that many programs are not transferable to an online environment. 
    We may have to deliver training online for the forseeable future. That is one challenge in itself. 
    But, we need to learn how to sell our training online as well. That is going to be a massive challenge for some and a massive opportunity for others.

    Following an online networking group with other trainers last week, I realise that the one constant in this sea of variables, is that actually no one really knows what next quarter looks like. We are slap bang in a VUCA environment. 
    What does VUCA mean?  
    I have delivered training programs for the military before and one term which has been mentioned several times in conversations with military learning and development consultants is the term ‘VUCA’ which stands for Volatile. Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous. 
     
    So that's what today is all about. What to do when the training world is VUCA. I’ve got three ideas that will help your learning and development business survive.

    5 daily habits to strengthen your business mindset

    Right now - wherever you are listening to this -  at home, in bed, on the commute to work (if you're still working) or perhaps you're sitting out in the garden if you're lucky to have one, things are economically, financially and personally tough!

    You don't need me to tell you that your learning and development business is not where you thought it would be this time last year.

    A good deal of my coaching and training work has been cancelled or postponed. Is that true for you? I hope not.

    But if our clients don’t need us right now, that is not to say that they won’t again soon.

    Your clients will need you again! 

    Good times or bad times, we need to keep on keeping on and use the power of habit to get into the habit of doing things that focus your mind and keep you busy marketing and selling your training and development services when everything around you is up in the air.

    Today I'm going to give you five pretty straightforward habits to keep you focused, keep you on your toes and doing the things which will strengthen your business mindset.
