Classic Replay: Jehovahs witness diaglogue: part 1

In the first of two programmes Justin Brierley talks to Jehovah's Witness Robert King (aka e-watchman) and former JW Tony Brown.

Robert is disfellowshipped but still holds to Jehovah's Witness doctrine.  He does not speak in any offical capacity for the Watchtower Society. Tony Brown is now a Christian pastor with a ministry to Jehovah's Witnesses, he describes how he joined and left the organisation.

They discuss the failed end-time prophecies of the organisation, their controversial blood doctrines and the belief in the 144,000 in heaven. Next week they tackle why JWs reject the deity of Christ.

Classic Replay: Is there evidence for a cosmic creator? Hugh Ross vs Lewis Wolpert

Recorded at Imperial College London in 2012. Christian astrophysicist Hugh Ross of Reasons To Believe debated atheist biologist Lewis Wolpert.

Ross brought evidence for God from Big Bang cosmology, explaining why scientific advance provides a testable model of Biblical Creation.  Wolpert said that belief in God is a by-product of evolution and nothing more.

Classic Replay: Do we live on an old or young earth? Hugh Ross & Ken Samples vs Andy MacIntosh & Stephen Lloyd

Classic Replay: Do we live on an old or young earth? Hugh Ross & Ken Samples vs Andy MacIntosh & Stephen Lloyd

Young Earth Creationists (YEC) claim the earth and universe is only some 6000 years old according to the Bible and that any science that goes against this is flawed.

Old Earth Creationists (OEC) argue that the Bible does not commit us to a 24hr day view of creation days, but that the earth and universe is, as mainstream science predicts, billions of years old.

This debate was recorded in front of a live audience at Gunnersbury Baptist Church in 2012. Representing OEC were Hugh Ross & Ken Samples of Reasons To Believe. Representing YEC were Andy MacIntosh & Stephen Lloyd.

Thank you

Hi Justin / Unbelievable, thank you for the thoughful debates. Always a good listen.

Ghastly Podcast

Someone tell us how it’s helpful to non believers and faith seekers who might have the misfortune of listening to Christian’s who completely disagree, or look down their nose at those that don’t? A great example is the gay people they invite on for a public hanging, backed up by the avalanche of hate from Premier listeners. How lovely.

Excellent

Unbelievably addictive. No matter what your world view is you can be assured that by listening to this programme you will be treated to a range of thought provoking, challenging and stimulating discussions that are skilfully moderated by a host who is only slightly less charming and eloquent than his wife (more Lucy please!). I love the fact that here at least I can get the theological meat I’m longing for presented in a way that is intellectually salient but accessible.

As someone on the autism spectrum and with a diagnosis of ADHD, it’s rare to find a mainstream programme that can appeal to both my obsessive engagement with the more esoteric areas of theology and hold my attention long enough to reliably educate me in said areas, so I love it when a new episode pops up in my podcast feed, it’s a highlight of my week. Keep up the good work.Cheers Justin and team!
