Untold: The Daniel Morgan Murder
The phone hacking scandal that closed News of the World was big, but that was just the tip of the iceberg. At the bottom of that iceberg of 'dark arts' - hacking, burglary, bugging, and bribing bent cops - is the body of Daniel Morgan. It’s been described by an Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police as “one of the most disgraceful episodes in the entire history of the Metropolitan Police Service.” Over the three decades since Daniel was killed, five failed police investigations and an ongoing panel inquiry, his has become the most investigated murder in British history. The story moves from back streets of London, through the highest echelons of Scotland Yard, to the offices of Rupert Murdoch's best selling newspapers, to the doors of Number Ten Downing Street. Clunky

Tried to get into this over and over but it’s just so clunky and hard to follow. The narration lacks pace and structure and is interspersed with this OTT cockney accent punctuating the narrative. I found this very strange and off-putting, seems to trivialise and add some “Horrible Histories” element to a twisting and difficult political story. Hard to identify and keep track of narrators, and there seems to be no real marker of the investigator tracking this story through to the end.
Background Music Ruins The Important Story

Really important story but I can’t listen past the first episode. The background music is just ridiculous, ruins the story and trivialises it to the level of a knock off child’s horror story. Please release one without the background music!
Great story, terrible podcast

The Daniel Morgan is a story that every British person and most definitely ever Londoner needs to know. Sadly this podcast is not the way to do it. Someone obviously saw the success of Serial and thought they could make some money. It starts off good but becomes confusing and rambling. The use of music is way too heavy handed and the constant plugs of the narrator’s book just becomes annoying. And then there’s the ‘specially written music’ to accompany the podcast - again awful and seemingly a plug to direct listeners to the musician who wrote and performed it - she certainly gets enough mentions. I hope someone does to a decent podcast series on this story at some point in the future, it deserves to be told. I just feel sorry for Daniel Morgan’s family who have been fighting for justice for decades and still haven’t got the answers they need and and are owed. This podcast doesn’t help them as it should.
