    Welcome to another great episode of the Sing Second podcast. We bring you the stories and happenings at the Naval Academy and the Naval Academy Alumni Association and Foundation (AA&F). Wow…what a weekend! We celebrated President’s Circle Weekend, celebrated the reunions for the classes of 1974 and 1979…and we hosted a live pod and pre-game social at the Fluegel Alumni Center. That was amazing! We talk about it. We continue to highlight our travel program by talking to Brad and Cindy Moore. Brad graduated in 1974, and the two of them spent late August on an amazing cruise of Ireland and Scotland with the USNA Alumni Travel program. And it’s UAB week! We prep for our first road trip of the football season with a conversation with UAB Athletic Director Mark Ingram. Mark brought the UAB football program back from the dead (literally) and has been a successful athletics administrator for years. Additionally…he’s a USNA parent! His son graduated in 2024 and is now at TBS, so you can say he has skin in the game. And we chat about the Friends of Navy Golf (FONG), current events and the last week of the O’s baseball season.     Sing Second Pod Sep 17 '24: Celebrating One Year in Our New Home

    Welcome to another great episode of the Sing Second podcast. We bring you the stories and happenings at the Naval Academy and the Naval Academy Alumni Association and Foundation (AA&F). Episode 6 comes in hot with a HUGE weekend at USNA. We welcome in the Classes of 1974 and 1979 will be in town for their reunions. We also celebrate our annual President's Circle weekend, with nearly 600 people rolling in hot for the festivities. One of those festivities is our Memphis pre-game social 11:30am-2:30pm at the Fluegel Alumni Center Blue and Gold Bar. The Pod will be airing live 12:00pm - 12:45pm with Keenan Reynolds, VADM Mike Miller, Bill Toti and Billy Hurley. The bar will be open and the conversation flowing. We talk to our incredibly talented Events team - specifically Danielle Milanette and Kylie Freeburger - about one year at the Fluegel Alumni Center, the events we've hosted, the events to come and what a game changer this building is. Lastly, we talk to Charlotte native Bob Selby '80. Bob was a SWO and then led "an eclectic story" of an alumni life into data storage and business. He is a USNA parent and still supports his alma mater. And Bob was the winner of the Alumni Homecoming Golf Tournament auction for the Sheehy Lexus Pebble Beach Tournament excursion. He's helping USNI put on a star-studded Irregular Warfare Conference at USNI's Jack Taylor Conference center Sept 17-18. Phil was a 30-year CIA operative who was part of the first teams to go into Afghanistan. Pretty awesome convo. Really awesome conference. And we talk to LEE BRICE. The Country Music star will be here to talk about his performance at the Annapolis Songwriter's Festival at City Dock Sept 15th. And he tells us who he's rooting for in the Army-Navy game. Denis dishes on what it takes to be Salty Sam, and he gives his perspective on a book he's writing about the Log and how a little civil disobedience within the walls of Annapolis can help morale and build friendships. He even dishes a little on how he's using this as an opportunity to reach out to the first classes of women at USNA and right some wrongs. And......another special bonus interview this week....We preview the Temple football game and give the alumni some recommendations for pre- and post-game revelry with the Ryan Mack and Colin Schofield of the Temple News sports section. The SEASON PREMIERE That escalated quickly...Brick killed a guy! Wow...we blinked our eyes and our little baby is 4 seasons old. Yep...we started this pod back in May 2020 in the pandemic as a way to talk Navy Sports. But Now, Sing Second Sports is the SING SECOND PODCAST, bringing you the stories of our alumni and updating you on the happenings at USNA and the Alumni Association and Foundation. So...we start Season 4 strong with a feature on the Naval Academy Travel Program. John Schofield spent last week as a host of an alumni cruise to ALASKA. It was amazing. We talk about the benefits of the program and other amazing trips that await the alumni out there. Check them out at www.usna.com/travel. While in Alaska, we met 2000 alum Tim Newberry. Tim graduated, was a submariner for 8 years...and then tried his hat at the Entrepreneur game. And bot did it work.
