QUEER ATHENS - Queer Greek History, One Story at a Time

Antonis Rompos is a retired neurological psychiatrist. In 2015, he and his late partner became the first legally recognized gay couple in Greece under the new Cohabitation Agreement legislation. In this episode, Dr. Rompos reflects on more than 40 years of participating in gay community and LGBTQ activism in Athens, sharing stories of police harassment, gay social life, the beginning of the AIDS pandemic, abusive conversion therapies, and experiences of homophobia in the courtroom and the media.
