#88: Freedom Friday - Ability Over Vanity Alive and Active Podcast | Faith and Fitness

    • 健康與體能

The last 18 months I’ve been focused on losing the weight I gained in 2021.

2021 was challenging and stressful for our family. And for me it triggered emotions from situations 20 years ago that came flooding to the surface.

Looking back, I realize I had some tools to process emotional pain, but didn’t really know how to fully apply them in a season where everything felt so overwhelming.

So I went to food and started binging shows on HGTV to numb the pain.

Once the major crisis began to die down and I realized I had gained weight, I started trying to lose it.

But it wouldn’t come off.

It felt like it was glued to my body.

I know what to do. I am a certified fitness instructor and nutrition coach. My degree is in physical therapy. I know all the things to do but it wasn’t working because I still needed to metabolize the pain.

And @alisakeeton ‘s new book #thebodyrevelation is helping me to do this.

One of the first steps for me was to take my focus off of needing to lose the weight and to begin practicing gratitude for what my body can do.

I have a good body.

I can use it to serve others and serve God.

I’m grateful that I can still walk and workout.

I’m grateful that I’m not in chronic pain. Aches and pains? Yes. But not debilitating pain.

Ability over vanity.

Will you join me?

I know we are all looking for the quick fix but what about spending some time getting to the root of the issue?

It’s worth it. You’re worth it.
