Little Beasts Brewing Co. located in Whitby, Ontario, is operated by Erin Broadfoot. She uses her science and biology background as her advantage in the process of brewing a rather vast selection of delicious beer. Little Beasts Brewing has seen various awards, such as several Ontario Brewing Awards and a Golden Tap Award for Best Newcomer. As a women in the beer industry, she discusses her successes and struggles, and uses her media platform to voice the need for the industry to end any and all discrimination. River Road Brewing is a farm-based brewery located in Bayfield Ontario, a quaint town along the shores of Lake Huron, and the home of co-owner Nikki Andrew. Nikki started the brewery with her husband in 2017 on a former apple orchard, utilizing the acreage to grow their own produce thereby utilizing a majority of their own ingredients in their beer, also known as "Grain to Glass". River Road also believes in sustainability and a bulk of their operations between the brewery and the farm are linked together in an effort to reduce their carbon footprint.

In this rather special episode of the podcast, we are honoured to have Inez Ribustello to give us a little preview of her book called Life After Windows. Before becoming a successful brewery owner in Tarboro, North Carolina, Inez worked atop one of the twin towers in New York at a world renowned restaurant, and she so happened to be absent for a family event on 9/11. This publication is a memoir of her life before and after the events of 9/11 as a collection of journals an essays. As well, we dive into how the event lead her to her current path in ownerships of several hospitality businesses, including Tarboro Brewing.

Microbrasserie Cassel/Cassel Brewery resides in Casselman, Ontario, in between Ottawa and Montreal, directly off the Trans-Canada Highway. Cassel has been known to be the first Franco-Ontarian craft brewery, operated by Mario Bourgeois, the multifaceted entrepreneur who has gone through the highs and lows of brewery ownership. Aside from brewing their own beer, Mario also operates other ventures supplying local up and coming breweries with equipment, as well as selling other food and beverage products.

We cap off our Historian Series with Philosophy Professor at University of British Columbia, and sinologist, Edward Slingerland, author of Drunk: How We Sipped, Danced and Stumbled Our Way to Civilization. He takes us through the pros and cons of alcohol, such as how creativity and sociability can be enhanced, yet alcohol is still toxic to consume, despite our desires to consume it, especially beer; a beverage that has been enjoyed for thousands of years.
