Emerging From PTSD; what does it feel like?

Emerging From PTSD; what does it feel like?

Today's episode is a reading accompanied by music created by Alexis Scarbro, the Dalai Momma.
It promises to startle, it may be frightening for sensitive listeners, so please, think about your current conditions, first.  Make sure you're cozy and feeling safe, most of all.  Take a break if you need to.
This music is bound to show you your Vagas Nerve.  Feel it. Allow it.  Don't resist, experience my experience.  Understand what PTSD feels like, if you're willing.

Finding Love Within the Self, and Using that Love to Heal the Self

Finding Love Within the Self, and Using that Love to Heal the Self

When I was in therapy for the first few visits, my therapist slammed me with the simple remedy, "You need to just love yourself, more."
I sat there winded.  I don't know how.  I've not been shown properly, where does one start?
The people I'd met in the world who loved themselves were naught.  I'd never met anyone who loved themselves.
I had to find out how to begin.
    This is my story.

Racism or Colorism? Value or devalue? Victims or victors? Let's talk.

Racism or Colorism? Value or devalue? Victims or victors? Let's talk.

This episode is not only about Racism these days, about what makes us believe there even is any other race than the human race --for real, we are colored, from palest white to darkest black and every shade in between... it's about value of humanity, our self value, the values we place on our children, our loved ones...
Also, it's about victimhood, on how today's American society is flailing in an obvious victim mindset.
And, it's about safety; of course the Vagas Nerve!  How Justin Sunseri's Building Anchors program is helping me to flex my vagal system and pull on the brakes during triggers.
Closing Song by Van Grounds who can be found on YouTube; he's a talented musician who began playing the piano at the ripe age of 8 months old. He's my son and he's for hire if you need music for your projects, movies, games, apps and videos.

Season 2, Episode 2 The Polyvagal Ladder and rising up it, reaching Safe and Social

Season 2, Episode 2 The Polyvagal Ladder and rising up it, reaching Safe and Social

It's been a tough week for me.  This week I, Alexis, share experience using the Building Anchors program by Justin Sunseri LMFT, available at Justin's website.  I had to find out how to pull out of a Shutdown response due to family trauma and I share all the things I did to not get out of it, and to get out of it.  These are amazing bodies we're given, to not use them to their fullest potential seems like squander.  Let's learn how to tweak these bodies, open these minds and recognize the control panel in our organism. These bodies are made for living in, not enduring in.  These bodies are made to explore, to live, to delve into discoveries and to enjoy all the sensations there are.  Let's learn how to discover, together.  I share all I gather in therapy and beyond.  Here's how I'm snapping out of it. 3

Interview with Justin Sunseri LMFT from the Stuck, Not Broken podcast

Alexis Scarbro has her first interview, ever, with Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Justin Sunseri --who's also the host of the life-changing podcast Stuck, Not Broken.
Listen as they talk about the Polyvagal Theory with gusto.

From parenting to sensing emotions in your own body, to regulating your own body --and how help regulate your child, to consequences and police behavior; the conversations are thick and the laughter is, too.

Justin Sunseri LMFT can be found on his podcast Stuck, Not Broken and also at his website, JustinLMFT.com
