Here is the MUCH delayed release of NGFP Local Lunch Podcast with Lynn Taylor!

    Dear Friends

In the space of recording this podcast with Lynn Taylor, one of the founders of community growing in Nottingham and a font of local food system knowledge, we have emerged out of our cosy chrysalis blinking into the light of a new reality.

Have a listen to Lynn, her gentle voice and wisdom about community will soothe you. Please have listen to the back catalogue - so many interesting people, so many food heroes who will give you hope. We need to massively ramp up food growing and social eating spaces - there is a glorious necklace of community gardens - and a farm - across the city but we need to not only expand these important gathering and teaching spaces but to revalue available land and get growing at scale.

We are trying to work out how to do podcasts in social isolation - we will have a test run and hopefully will resume weekly broadcasts then!

    With love

    Penney and Shona

Lynn Taylor - local food growing guru and coordinator of the Nottingham Growing Network

Lynn Taylor - local food growing guru and coordinator of the Nottingham Growing Network

Hello and welcome to our weekly NGFP Local Lunch podcast trailer where we provide you, our lovely listeners with everything you need to know about Nottingham’s local food heroes and how you can get more involved in our vibrant local food scene!

Local lunch is brought to you by me Shona Munro and me Penney Poyzer of Nottingham Good Food Partnership the go to organisation for sustainable food in our fair city.

This week our guest is Lynn Taylor. We have both known Lynn for many years and her knowledge of the local food growing scene is un-paralled - and she knows everyone! Lynn is a highly respected community co-ordinator who has worked with a broad spectrum of communities across the city including Asian women, the Vietnamese community and the long established Polish community to name just a few.

Very early on in her career she realised that to draw people together you had to be in the heart of those communities and that by offering good food , you can build relationships and then the work flows from there - it's all about trust.

We will hear from Lynn about why food has been at the heart of her work and learn about her long relationship with St Ann’s allotments, Social Farms and Gardens and how so much of her work has enabled the network of community gardens to bloom and expand around the city.

This network is known as the Nottingham Growing Network which Lynn coordinates, has grown to 24 organisations all of which are building social and natural capacity for the communities in which they flourish. It is going to be a fascinating programme and we very much look forward to introducing Lynn to you.

SAM PRESTON BEHAVIOUR CHANGE OFFICER, NOTTINGHAM CITY COUNCIL AND NGFP BOARD MEMBER

Hello and welcome to our weekly NGFP Local Lunch podcast trailer where we provide you, our lovely listeners everything you need to know about Nottingham’s local food heroes and how you can get more involved in our vibrant local food scene!

Local lunch is brought to you by me Shona Munro and me Penney Poyzer of Nottingham Good Food Partnership the go to organisation for sustainable food in our fair city.

This week our guest is Sam Preston. Sam is behaviour change officer at Nottingham City Council and an NGFP board member. Sam is also a Roosevelt Scholar and she will be telling us about the highlights (of which there are many) of her trip to the USA last autumn when she visited sustainable food projects across the country.

Now it was very recently announced by EDIE the influential on line environmental news organisation that a panel of judges had selected 30 young people under 30 who they think are the sustainability visionaries of 2020 - and our Sam is one of them - so we look forward to hearing more about that.

We will talk about what could work here and also about the many projects that we work on together - including the city council’s carbon neutral 2028 vision and why the inclusion of the local food system is so critical

So tune in this Friday at 1.30pm. Simply search for NGFP Local Lunch on your browser and we will pop up!

NGFP news - community conversations, conferences and comms

Hello and welcome to our weekly NGFP Local Lunch podcast where we provide you, our lovely listeners with everything you need to know about Nottingham’s local food heroes and how you can get more involved in our vibrant local food scene!

Local lunch is brought to you by me Shona Munro and me Penney Poyzer of Nottingham Good Food Partnership the go to organisation for sustainable food in our fair city.

This week we were hoping to have John Morgan, Director of Leonard’s Design on the show to talk about their green team and why they support the Wellbeing Design Guide - co-authored by NGFP and Nottingham City Council’s Urban Planning team. Unfortunately John has been called away to a meeting but we look forward to having him on the show in the not too distant future.

This week it's just us chatting! It is a busy time at NGFP HQ so we thought we should share what's occurring.

Soon to be launched, and much improved website

We've been having conversations in the community about social eating, growing and composting

and there is a national conference coming up next week.

Next week our guest will be Sam Preston, Behaviour Change Officer, Nottingham City Council, an NGFP board member and also a Roosevelt Scholar! Sam is utterly passionate about sustainability and we will be hearing about her tour around sustainable beacons in the USA. And yes we will be asking about offsetting!
