    The Christian & Technology with Scott Dixon

    Episode Info: Scott Dixon and Jason Wing build on our recent two-week sermon series titled "The Christian and Technology." In their conversation, they examine the relationship between the Church and technology, highlighting how Christians can be mindful of its influence while supporting one another as it continues to transform our culture. Guest Info: Dr. Dixon graduated from Cedarville University (1984), Dallas Theological Seminary (1989), and Michigan State University—Go Sparty! (2001). Scott served for six years as a youth pastor in Lansing, Michigan, and has been a professor at Cedarville University for over 25 years, teaching Bible and Christian education. He recently completed his three-year term as an elder at UBC and assists with preaching and the Classes Ministry. When Scott is not preaching or teaching, he and his wife, Sara, enjoy spending time with their five children and four grandchildren.     Stories from the Field: Namibia, Africa

    EPISODE INFO:  We are excited to continue our new series, Stories from the Field. Highlighting God's incredible work through UBC’s local and global missions. In this episode, we hear from some of the team that recently traveled to Namibia, Africa. ----- GUEST INFO: Eric Mishne Eric has attended UBC since 2019 and is a Professor of Communication and Speech & Debate Coach at Cedarville University. He is a self-proclaimed coffee enthusiast, bordering on a snob. He and his wife, Natalie, live in Xenia. They love to travel, especially internationally. Together, they have nearly 100 houseplants and are always busy playing games, cooking, or planning their next adventure. Sharon Kerestes Sharon works at Cedarville University, where she serves as the Curriculum Materials Center Librarian (2012). She works primarily with the university's Education majors and faculty and enjoys the variety this position offers, including teaching, selecting and organizing resources, and supervising student employees. She has served on UBC's Core Mission Team since 2021 and is currently working to revive the refugee and international engagement ministry. She also has a TESOL certificate and volunteers as a teacher with an ESL ministry at South Dayton Presbyterian Church in Kettering. She likes coffee, cats, learning about other cultures, British TV, crafts, and books, of course! Jason Wing Jason is a devoted follower of Jesus and a loving husband to Rachel. Together, they have a wonderful family with their children: Reagan, Gideon, Jonny, and Liberty. Jason is the Lead Pastor at University Baptist Church (2018). When he’s not at church, he enjoys coffee or fishing at the beach. He loves audiobooks and discussing fantasy football and CrossFit. Most of all, he values efficient meetings with pre-set agendas. Jim Corbin Jim and his wife, Sandy, are passionate about partnering and planting churches through short-term trips by training, equipping, and mobilizing. Jim serves as an Elder at UBC (2024) and oversees UBC’s Missions & Mercy Ministries (2022). Jim also serves through e3 Partners (2012) and currently holds the position of Strategy Coordinator (2018) for Argentina and Northern Uganda. He is also the Great Commission Connector for the Greater Dayton Association of Baptists (GDAB) (2023). When Jim and Sandy aren’t serving on the mission field, they enjoy spending time with their two children and six grandchildren, as well as cheering on all Pittsburgh sports teams. HOST INFO: Jen Hart Jen and her husband, Glen, celebrate 25 years of marriage this summer and are parents to four amazing sons (Ethan, Sawyer, Owen, and Hudson) and one daughter-in-law (Anna). She enjoys spending time with friends and family, cheering on her four boys in their activities, reading, and making music. Jen works full-time in the Counseling Services department at ⁠Cedarville University⁠ (2022) as an LPCC and part-time as an administrative assistant for the Missions and Mercy Ministry at UBC (2024). Jen has a heart to offer hope and healing through faithful application of biblical and practical tools to navigate living in a fallen world.     Stories from the Field: Southeast Asia

    Episode Info:  In this inaugural episode, we are excited to introduce our new subseries, Stories from the Field, which highlights God's incredible work through UBC’s local and global missions. In this first episode, we hear from the team that recently traveled to Southeast Asia. Guest Info: Bryson Jackson Born into a Gospel-singing family in Nashville, Tennessee, Bryson traveled the world with his family until High School, when they settled to serve in a local church. Bryson received his theological education through Cedarville University (MDiv) and has been in church ministry for nine years. Married at UBC in 2023, Bryson leads our Gospel Heights campus in Huber Heights. Bryson also serves in public office as a trustee in Butler Township, Ohio. Skyler Jackson Skyler was raised in Dayton, Ohio, in an unbelieving family. At the age of 22, she encountered God in a profound way, laid aside her old life, and put her faith in Christ. Since then, she has pursued theological education at Cedarville University, married, and served on staff at UBC for several years as the Tech Team Specialist. Recently, she and her husband, Bryson Jackson, have branched out from UBC to plant Gospel Heights Church, where she now leads the Hospitality Team, alongside Philip Gammie.  Philip Gammie Philip was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, with a family of three sisters and one brother. He grew up attending church and being involved with AWANA and youth group, going on several mission trips throughout high school. In college at Cedarville University, Philip studied Strategic Communication with various minors while also obtaining his EMT certification. After graduating, he married Haley and was a firefighter for three years, but has recently moved into a new role at Sinclair Community College. Philip has attended UBC since 2021 and is part of the Gospel Heights Church planting effort.  Haley Gammie Grew up in South Carolina as a pastor’s kid, as one of four girls in our family of six. God planted a passion for missions in her heart at the age of 11, during her first mission trip to Belize. That calling led her to Cedarville University, where she studied videography and minored in intercultural communication. While at Cedarville, she met her husband, Philip, and they got married in 2023. Since 2022, she has been attending and serving at UBC, where she now works as the Administrative Assistant. Now she and Philip are serving at UBC’s church plant, Gospel Heights. Guest Info: James Risner James grew up in a church planter’s home in Trenton, Ohio. After serving local churches for several years, teaching at Boyce College, and completing two degrees at Southern Seminary, God led his family to Dayton, Ohio, for him to Pastor for the next seven years.  James has served the Greater Dayton Association of Baptists for nearly six years and loves leading local churches to collaborate for gospel growth, pastoral equipping, and encouragement. James also serves as a Pastor of Strategic Initiatives at Dayton Avenue Baptist Church. James is married to Jenny, they stay active raising and discipling their four kids.     Passing the Torch: Celebrating a New Season in Women’s Ministry with Barb Carpenter & Rachel Kimble

    Episode Info:  Kelcey has a heartfelt conversation with Barb Carpenter, who has gracefully led UBC’s Women’s Ministry Team for the past two and a half years, and welcomes Rachel Kimble, UBC’s newly-hired Director of Women’s Ministry. Together, they celebrate and reflect on God's amazing work in Women's Ministry over the past few years while casting vision for the future in this new season. Guest Info: Rachel Kimble Rachel has dedicated many days to homeschooling and teaching an adjunct class for women at Cedarville University. Her passion for teaching comes from her desire to love God and others, recognizing that when we experience God's love, it enriches our relationships and glorifies Him. When she's not teaching, Rachel enjoys outdoor activities, especially hiking in the mountains, with her family: her husband, Jeremy (22 years), daughter Hannah (18), and son Jonathan (15). She serves as UBC Director of Women’s Ministries, overseeing efforts to help women pursue biblical womanhood and ensure they receive biblically based care to deepen their relationship with Christ. Barb Carpenter Barb is a wife/helpmate, mom, and grandmother to four grandbabies. She enjoys spending time outside, doing yardwork, walking, and doing other fun activities with family and friends. She loves spending her days with friends and pouring into people. She loves making people meals and loving them with food. She served as the Women’s Ministry team lead and recently passed the baton to Rachel Kimble. She loves this ministry and plans to stay committed to it in any and all ways needed. She also serves on the UBC Welcome Team. She desires for ladies to feel seen, known, loved, and connected. She is passionate about seeing others in discipleship relationships and is plugged into the community. Guest Host Info: Kelcey Flynn Kelcey spends her days raising wild little men, eating too much, and pursuing a present, spirit-filled life. She is passionate about creating atmospheres that remind us all that we’re only one conversation away from a richness and intimacy with Jesus that could change our lives. She wholeheartedly believes personal stories and reflective conversations change the way we connect to each other and, ultimately, to our Savior. Kelcey enjoys feeding the people she loves, attempting a cut flower garden, throwing heavy weights around, and spending as much time outside as possible with her husband, Daniel (of 12 years), Trip (6 years old), and Titus (3 years old). She currently serves as a Bible Study Leader and Communications Lead within UBC’s Women's Ministry and as a Worship Leader on Sunday mornings.
