    How Has Fear Sabotaged You?

    In last week’s podcast, I ended by asking for people to share with me what they were afraid of. Evidently it was posting their fear as no one did! Some of the answers I received were: SUCCESS, Settling, offering a specific service this person wasn’t trained in and yet another said Running for City Council. All different. With success, as mentioned in my previous podcast, I discussed a client who had someone he admired change negatively as he achieved success. With Settling – it could be similar, So I asked her to think about who she felt in her life has settled. Has perhaps given up on their dream.  Wasted talent as I like to call it. That’s one of the things I hate the most.  Wasted talent!  Sometimes it’s unavoidable, like a career-ending sports injury. But most of the time it’s excuses ANNNNNNND….what? Yes, you guessed it! FEAR! My least favorite 4-letter word! How is your fear affecting your life, your career, your business? How is it sabotaging your ability to Achieve YOUR SUCCESS? What can you do to work thru it? Unfortunately the best way to the other side is straight thru the muck. The “thick of things” or the best way out is THROUGH as we’ve heard. So many sayings and you never know what they mean until you’re living it right? Many times we hate them! Like “Face your fears”, “Just do it”, and yes, “it will be what it will be” and yes “deal with it”.     What is Your Vision?

    This week’s theme - What’s your vision? What do you see on “the other side”. In last week’s podcast, I asked you to share what you saw when you got to Happy Land!! In the podcast, I suggested you draw a picture (nothing elaborate) or even write down what you want. What you SEE and how you would FEEL once you get to “Happy Land”.  So – what IS your vision and how the hell do you get there? About 3 years ago, I had a woman come to me and say “I want to make better choices”. At first it was really all about physical health. The usual – lose weight. Well, I’m not a “health coach”, but I understood she needed help with the “how” and the accountability. I agreed to take her on as a private coaching client. As we would meet and talk thru what she wanted, it wasn’t well “you can’t eat this or that, you have to work out, or you won’t succeed”. It was conversations full of her why. Her VISION. What did she see in her HAPPY LAND? Stop eating McDonalds every morning for breakfast and starting to walk at lunch is the obvious part. Her vision included financial, emotional AND physical health. WOW – that was a lot more than she mentioned, but that is what happens when you’re COACHING someone. You don’t just focus on the obvious…because usually that’s a result of something bigger – deeper. WE HAD TO DETERMINE WHAT WAS CAUSING HER TO MAKE UNHEALTHY DECISIONS. THINK ABOUT: What it is YOU want. AND what you need help with (this can be the hard part – so who can help you determine that?) So this week – I want you to think about who it is that YOU want to become. What do you want your legacy to be? If you died tomorrow... what would you hope that people are saying? What do I want you to do? Write your TOMBSTONE MESSAGE! HAHA…YES, THAT’S WHAT I SAID! Make sure you post your message in the comments section!     Become Your Best YOU!

    As I spoke about in the previous podcast – I help people realize their potential. Sometimes you don’t SEE the same things others do. AH YES, PERCEPTION. We’ll get into that in another podcast and be ready – perception is NOT reality!  Wasted talent…so what do I mean by that? We’ve seen the obvious ones – you know, the 7’ kid who we assume he plays basketball yet he doesn’t even like sports. Yes, there are those, but what I am referring to is when people have a special gift – an eye for creativity, perhaps they’re gifted in the food industry, cleaning business, sales – whatever it is, they kind of know they are as they’ve done things for FREE, or for pay, they get excited, they start making progress and then BAM! Eh I don't want to work that hard. It’s more fun doing it for free. They walk away from what “they said” was their dream to become. THAT MY FRIENDS IS WASTED-FRIGGN-TALENT.  So close. Such amazing things happening, perhaps a bump in the road and then they just turn and run. *sigh* (You can Refer to podcast 2 and 3 where I discuss fear killing your goals and dreams.) in sense just BEING the best YOU you can be. We can’t always be “on” – fun, funny, nice, giving, etc…but when we aren’t, that gives people around you to notice and ask how you are. What’s going on, how they can help. Or, if you aren’t in a good place in life – are you ok living in that “world”? Would you want, “Heart of Gold but always a Bitch” written on your tombstone?!!  Mine would say, “100% empathic, authentic. If it was on your mind, I was already saying it. If you were lucky enough to be in my World, you were always considered a friend. And this “becoming the best YOU” goes way beyond personality. It’s about who you want to be – a well known artist. A highly respected professor. A business person. A chef – perhaps a restaurant owner. Teacher…. Make sense? So you’ve decided you want to become this amazing person. Now what? How. Well, I guess you better listen in, eh?! Start defining the WHAT behind the WHO.     What Is The Driving Force Behind YOUR Fear?

    Hi everyone! Sandi here! WOW welcome to WEEK 6 of my Monday Motivation podcasts! It’s gone by fast! My question last week was “what are you willing to do in the next 30 (now 21 days) to enrich  your life? You must still be thinking about it, as no one posted a comment?! Hmmmmm, are you stumped? OR do you KNOW but don’t know HOW to do it or where to start…or perhaps afraid. YEP – THAT DAMN FEAR SHOWS UP EVERYWHERE! I’ve been afraid. I admitted to many of my fears in my 1st book which was published in 2015 titled "From There To Here".  So this week I ask you – WHAT IS THE DRIVING FORCE behind your fear? Yes, all the excuses, reasons, blame, lack of progress and momentum… fear is lurking back there. But what is it that you’re afraid of.  In a previous podcast, I mentioned my client said his fear of success was due to someone he admired changing negatively as he found his success. After deeper thinking – he said it felt more like the unknown of the paradigm shift AS he achieves his success. So my question to him was – who are you afraid to LEAVE BEHIND or LOSE as a result of your success? Hmmmmm – yes you have to DIG DEEPER if you want to PLAY BIGGER!! So this week AGAIN – thinking about "Happy Land". Focusing on something you have YET to do. You’re curious as to why. You have plenty of excuses and say “I’ll get to that”, I’ll do that some day”. WELL GUESS WHAT? SOME DAY IS NOT A DAY OF THE WEEK!!!  I WANT A post in the comments section of this page or facebook – wherever you are finding the podcast link or email me, WHAT IT IS that you feel is truly behind your fears?     I Will If YOU Will!

    Welcome back to OR welcome if you’re a first-timer to the Monday Motivation podcast! This IS Sandi Ballard, founder of Growing Forward Success Coaching and master of detecting excuses! If ping pong was a game of slapping back excuses at clients, I WOULD win the Olympics! HA! How are things going? Really? Over the last few weeks, I have challenged you to step out of your comfort zone and try something NEW. Do something differently. Get off your ass and climb out of your rut and DO. SOMETHING. Yes, I’m wearing my pointy shoes right now and my whip is within arms reach! I’m clearly in a MOOD and it stems from fielding excuses all year. Having clients fall out of routine and make excuses to get back-on-track. What’s the challenge? I get frustrated when, and my Mentor has told me many times, “You can’t want it more than them”, but when clients back off or continue to throw excuses at me instead of seeing what I see in them. Seeing how amazing it is and what MORE they can have. So last week I asked you to step out of your comfort zone and I had this voice in my head (I know I have lots of them) but this one I could hear a client say, I don’t want to do this by myself. Sigh**** I will only do this if someone comes with me. Ok, I get it, doing things alone can sometimes be scary, then I also appreciate the saying “Misery Loves Company”. Remember when you were a kid – and you got in trouble and your parents asked you why you did something? And your response was “because Jimmy did it”? haha…….. and what did your parents ask you?  Yes…So if Jimmy jumped off a bridge would you jump too? Hahaha. Yeah. Well guess what – there are many of you adults out there that are still pulling that “I’ll do it if you do it” card. I’m not saying it’s wrong all the time, but there clearly are times when that’s just another b******t excuse! I agree sometimes going with a friend or colleague to an event is more fun than going it alone, but make sure you understand the WHY behind NOT doing it alone. Is this person in your “comfort zone”? What happens when you have to take that BIG GIANT F-ING STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE and NO ONE CAN BE YOUR SIDEKICK? NO ONE can go to that networking event with you? No one can workout with you? No one can come over and play? What will you do? Reel back into your comfort zone and not go? You KNOW this can potentially help your business, career, life in general…but you just can’t go it alone?     Change SUCKS!

    Hidy Ho fellow listeners! I appreciate you logging on here and listening to your weekly Monday Motivation or more of a challenge as it’s becoming!   Let me ask you – do you complain but refuse to make changes? Whether it’s your thoughts, how you do something, WHEN you do something or perhaps personal behavior? Has the WHY behind that changed?  Perhaps the WHY isn’t the problem it’s the HOW. Perhaps you don’t understand or believe IN the WHY behind what you are doing, or the need for change. CHANGE IS INEVITABLE. So why do so many resist? Why do people HATE CHANGE so much? The last few weeks I’ve talked about getting uncomfortable. Stepping OUT OF your comfort zone – doing something new. Going it alone. Trying something for the 1st time or in a new, or different way. I know, I know I KNOW it can be hard, scary, uncertainty sets in – you don’t know or OH HOLY LORD CONTROL THE OUTCOME, so you put the guards up and GUESS WHAT? You don’t do it. Worse yet, you do nothing. Podcast #13 – what is the definition of insanity??  You don’t want to change anything yet you still EXPECT DIFFERENT RESULTS! Well welcome to life people! I learned years ago to take my hands off the wheel and enjoy the ride! Yes, I still want things MY way, but when something doesn’t happen the way I WANTED OR EXPECTED it to happen, do I just give up, throw a fit (as I’ve seen people do)? HELL NO! I look at what’s going on. THE WHY behind it. I may not like having to change something, but I realize I can’t argue with the giant joystick in the sky!! I have to sit down and really look at everything – every aspect of what I am doing, how I am doing it, and WHY! THEN, I take a deep breath – perhaps have a glass of wine and pull up my bootstraps and make adjustments! Sometimes that even means walking away from an idea, a client, a goal – hmmmmm, usually not a goal. More like delaying a goal or shelving it until the timing is better, funding is better, I know more or align with someone who shares the same vision.
