interpretations of minehunters as warships and Türkiye’s regulatory role under
the Convention. Furthermore, the paper assesses Ukraine's evolving reliance on
international law, especially its previous appeals to the Montreux Convention,
and projects the potential for escalation in the Black Sea in 2024. The study
concludes by highlighting Türkiye’s as a custodian of regional stability,
demonstrating its balanced approach in navigating international treaties and
