    ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist Awards – May 23rd, 2024

    On May 15th, transition-year students from Pobalscoil Inbhear Scéine, Kenmare won two honors at the ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist Awards, which took place in Dublin’s Royal Convention Centre.
    The project was called “The Impacts of Unsustainable Pair Trawling in Kenmare Bay’.
    Over 250 projects entered the competition from across Ireland - which recognises efforts to raise environmental issues and improve the local environment.
    Their project won best Overall Senior Winners Award and scooped the top spot in the overall “Senior Marine” category.
    Jerry spoke to their teacher John O’Sullivan and students Oisin Hanley, , Meabh Rocheford, Siabh Sheehy and Kate McGann.
