Really enjoying listening to the silmarilion series, the guys give amazing background knowledge about the stories.

It’s October 2020 and I am currently listening to the PPP on The Hobbit. Eventually I will catch up with where they are at live ! I came to the podcast originally as I needed help with The Silmarillion and am now hooked. As a Brit living in Ireland, I have to say that at this time in the world the USA is getting some pretty bad press internationally. However Shawn and Alan are great ambassadors for their country and will restore your faith in America ! They are intelligent, funny, have a real love for all things Tolkien, and what most impresses is their real humility and friendship - there is never a sense of rivalry or one-upmanship between them. They respect each other, and draw you in to their warm conversation. Highly recommended.

Like the road itself, the Prancing Pony Podcast goes ever on and thanks be to Iluvatar for it! Alan and Shawn are wonderful companions on your journey through the Lord of the Rings and the complex world of Tolkien’s Legendarium bringing characters and themes in these incredible works of art to life. I had read the main books several times and always enjoyed them as exciting stories and adventures to pass away the hours. Now having discovered the PP podcast, my journey has become a whole different experience. The insight and knowledge the guys bring (not to mention their sense of humour) enriches your reading and reveals the depths of genius of this amazing storyteller. Thank you for all the hard work and scholarship you put into every episode. I look forward to it eagerly each week.

I have come late to this podcast. I have been working my way through it over the last 18 months and am staggered by the insight, scholarship, love and estel that I have found herein. I am forty years old, read the hobbit at nine, the trilogy at 12 and at least once every year thereafter. I have consumed every part of the legendarium since, multiple times and loved it all. Like others, I’ve lived my life, built a career, a business and a family, but all the while with this world in the background as somewhere I have drawn inspiration and solace from though I drifted from it and the great morality found within. This podcast has lead to a rediscovery of and a deeper understanding of the professor’s work and reawakened a part of my soul and lead me back to being a better self and father. Exceptional Cormac
