    Social Purpose: Mohamad Fakih.

    Social Purpose: Mohamad Fakih.

As a boy growing up in Beirut during the Lebanese Civil War, Mohamad Fakih’s parents used a shoebox to teach him the importance of giving back to society. Every day, his mother told him he had to put some of his allowance into that box—money that was later given to the needy.  That lesson stuck with him when he came to Canada, where he built the Paramount Fine Foods chain of Middle Eastern Restaurants and earned acclaim for his charitable endeavours.

Canada's Youth Demands Corporate Leaders Build Better Communities

Kevin Page, Canada’s former Parliamentary Budget Officer, earned a reputation for speaking truth to power—even if political leaders didn’t always like what he had to say about the state of our nation’s finances.  He continues that work as the founding President and CEO of the Institute of Fiscal Studies and Democracy at the University of Ottawa, where he collaborates with young people who he says are demanding that leaders of business show that they’re committed to helping build better communities.
