Elected

Meg Wheeler
Elected Podcast

There are over 500,000 elected officials in the United States, meaning that at least 1 out of every 1,000 American adults serves in an elected position. But despite the fact that there are more women than men in this country, only about 20-25% of all elected positions are held by women. It's not because we don't get elected as often. Is it that women are less likely to be encouraged by their parents, teachers, and community to run? Or maybe it's that we don't think we're qualified enough, or prepared enough to run. But I think a big reason is that we just don't know what it's really like to run for elected office. And that is the point of this podcast. Elected is a week-by-week behind-the-scenes look into what it's like, as a woman, to run for elected office in the U.S.
