36: My Child Won't Listen! Advice For A Parent Who Wrote In.

In another solo episode, I answer a parent's question about their child not listening when riding outside near the road. This mum shared her fear and frustration over her son's habit of riding close to the road despite repeated warnings, in a message on my social media. Do you know why young children struggle to listen, and for that matter, is it even listening that is the problem? I share how to hold boundaries calmly yet firmly, and effective communication techniques, no matter your child's age. I also hone in on the struggle this parent had to keep calm and manage their emotions, to stop things from escalating. Tune in for practical advice to help your kids cooperate with your requests whilst maintaining your calm.

35: Better Communication = More Cooperation: Because YOU Are Probably Creating Arguments and Power Struggles.

Solo episode today! Do you know the immense power of using clear, conscious, and respectful communication with your kids? As a former paediatric speech pathologist and communication specialist, I'm sharing super practical tips to help you avoid the traps of using vague, reactive, and authoritarian language. I cover handling the dreaded bedtime routine, toy cleanup, and meltdowns/tantrums way more effectively by making two simple shifts in your communication: explaining the situation and setting boundaries. Not rocket science, right?! But I'm betting you're not doing it 95% of the time. This is almost a bit of a private coaching session with me! I get you to reflect on your habits, learn from specific scenarios, and discover how improved communication can create smoother, easier interactions with your kids. Tune in to make your words work wonders and strengthen your connection with your kids.To access the free and low cost resources I mentioned in the episode, head to www.stephaniepinto.com/resources Can I ask a favour? I love putting time and energy into this podcast, and if you've found some tips and stories helpful can you please share it with your parent friends?! "Parents are not supposed to do this alone," she reminds us, as we learn practical strategies for staying connected with our teens amidst the challenges of vaping, smartphones, and the TikTok lifestyle.I know you will take so much away from this chat, even if you're like me and don't yet have teens! 31: Redefining Fatherhood: Emotional Intelligence and Gentle Parenting with Daniel Franco (Part 1).

Today on Emotionally Intelligent Parenting with Stephanie Pinto, I sit down with Daniel Franco, the insightful host of Dads Lifting Dads podcast, for part one of a compelling two-part interview.Dan shares his experiences and wisdom on navigating the challenges of fatherhood from a modern perspective. No "suck it up buttercup" or "emotions make you weak" from him! We delve into some big topics like aligning parenting styles with your partner - can it be done?, mothers' concerns about fathers causing emotional trauma with their harsh tactics, and the debate around gentle parenting and permissiveness. Our conversation about how to raise boys who are both resilient and emotionally intelligent was one of the most powerful I've had. Dan offers practical advice and heartfelt insights and calls on fathers to step up to be more present and supportive in their families. Keep an ear out for Part 2 next week!Find out more about Dan on Instagram @adadliftingdadsAnd more information about his Hibernation Challenge at www.hibernationchallenge.com or @hibernationchallenge on Instagram.***If this resonates with you, I'd love to hear from you.
