Oasis - a conversation with Justine Martin

“Oasis” won the Flying Film Festival Silver Wings Award in 2024. We had a conversation on the project with the director Justine Martin. The documentary follows Raphaël and Rémi in their summer adventures. As twins, they grew up with a special bond. One of them has a disability and we sense that entering the adolescence will set a different pace in each of their lives, changing their relation too. You can watch the documentary here ENG translation of the dialogue excerpts: 00:02:58 Raphaël - Do we go now? Is it bad if we fall in? Rémi - No. Raph - (screaming) Rémi - You ok? Raph - It happened. Rémi - Stop, I'm gonna fall! Stop! Raph - I wanna do pedal boat. I wanna do pedal boat. I want to! 00:05:33 Rémi -You got an ace? Raphaël - Crap. Do I need to give them all? Rémi - Yeah. Raph - No. Rémi - Yeah. Raph - I'll just give you two. Rémi - No, you have to give them all. You give me all three. Raph - Here. Rémi - I even think you have one more. Raph - No. Rémi - I saw it! I saw it! Raph - No. Rémi - I saw it! Raph don't cheat or else you will get the karma of your life. Raph - You saw it wrong. Rémi - I see it now. Raph - You saw wrong. Rémi - Raph, give it. 00:08:18 Rémi - He's my brother I love him, I spend so much time with him that in my head he doesn't have a handicap, he is like anyone. It's as I slowly grew up that I noticed he was different. Yeah. Justine - How well does he take care of you? Raphaël- Very well. He protects me. And that's awsome. -- Follow the Flying Film Festival project https://flyingfilmfestival.com/

Discussion animée entre entendeurs de voix - a conversation with Tristan Thil

"Discussion animée entre entendeurs de voix" (Animated discussion between voice-hearers) won the Flying Film Festival first prize. We had a conversation on the project with the director Tristan Thil. In the documentary we meet a group of people who gather to talk about how they deal with the voices in their heads. Instead of “schizophrenic”, to present themselves they prefer the term “voice-hearers” . ENG translation of the dialogue excerpts: 1 - Carol: I had to go to another hospital to find out that it's called schizophrenia, and it comes from my brain. From my brain, yes... It's my brain that secretes the talking voices, I thought it was telepathy, they get in and out against my will. - Antonin : and do you answer them? - Carol: Uh, yes... Well it's not like a real dialogue, but sometimes they ask questions, so I answer. - Antonin: Oh, that...shh! Don't say that to anybody... They're gonna say you're nuts. - Carol: but I can say it here! 2 - Virginia: Is there a link between the music you play, or listen to, and the reactions [of the voices]? - Robert: Oh yes, totally. For example I'm not allowed to play Mozart, because he was coprophilic... Neither Mussorgsky, because he was an alcoholic. And, of course, I'm not allowed to play Schumann! - Virginia: why? - Robert: because Schumann was schizophrenic! 3 - Does everybody take pills? -Yes, I do. -Me too. -I used to take Solian. Now it's Amisulpride, a generic. I took 2 in the morning, 2 in the evening. Now I do 7! -Haha! I've got the same.
