mental health and service dogs with brooklyn elizaa

hiii homies!! :) welcome back to this week's episode of PARANOID IN MY PARADISE™ w/ @brooklynelizaa and her service dog Tuca! join us while brooklyn walks us through her everyday life of being joined by her service dog. if you ever wanted to know the dos and don'ts of seeing a service dog in public this might be for you :) brooklyn shares why and how she came to train Tuca, to be a service animal, how she copes, and the benefits, + some stories :) we also touch in-depth on depression, social fetishes, + mind and body > physical health + mental. " if you don't see a different way other than "normal"  on a regular basis it's easy to say you're an ally and joke about it, and say "oh I'm depressed or I did really bad on that test now I have anxiety" however mental health is a prolonged period not just feeling a certain way at the moment"  we have to be able to recognize someone else's position and the severity of it. we dive into a number of different conversations surrounding depression, indigenous ways of learning, cancel culture, difficulties of waitlists, social media and how it's changed comedy in its entirety. in good news recently bill 138 proper access to mental health was started for more resources and money for canadians youth. hopefully, we can see change and make change together :)

little tip from brooklyn elizaa "don't pet the dogs while they are working" :)

death, optimism, changes with sunshine snowden

hello everyone! welcome back to this week's episode of PARANOID IN MY PARADISE™ featuring the sweet, kind Sunshine Snowden. @saimfarooqui shares a conversation with Sunshine about how to be mentally strong on the brink of death, and how to stay optimistic but also realistic during this time.

Sunshine had been In an accident some years ago, causing major brain damage. this event changed her life forever. Sunshine shares how she lives on a day-to-day basis and how many things affect her, physically and emotionally. Sunshine talks about how she copes with others being negative, and positive towards her. Saim asks how Sunshine views and copes with death. her response: "being in the hospital for so long, I've had many friends that died, i've been to so many funerals, i'm 19 and I have my own will and testament printed off and ready to go, it's been so normalized it doesn't even phase me anymore. It's okay to be afraid, but think of all the happiness you will leave behind." Sunshine is a person who loves to put positivity out into the world, she strives to be the kindest and wants to thank the people who never made fun of her oxygen tank, as well as the person who sat with her at home depo while having a seizure. in this world we need to be kind to one another, if you can't stand for one thing you may fall for everything. join us today to listen to a very inspirational, genuinely amazing person's story. #notalone

Sunshine was due for major invasive brain surgery, that could end her life, the day after this episode was recorded. fortunately, Sunshine made it through and has since been undergoing rehabilitation. Sunshine says " don't feel pity for me, live for you, you have a long life, take advantage of that. not everyone gets that"

creative expression with mental health councilor Laura Amada

creative expression with mental health councilor Laura Amada

hello everyone! in this episode, we have Laura Amada from lauraamada.ca with us to share pieces of her journey and shed light on Mental Health. it can be really scary for people to be alone with themselves, this is why we practice mindfulness and different ways of Creative Expression. Amada says to go deepen within, have that piece of compassion for yourself, we must have some form of Hope. "When the fire is almost out and there is a little bit of kindling and you know it's there, it's very close to dying, but if you can just spark it up, where is that gonna go? That can lead to Creative Expression, having Compassion. That is the way out" - Amada. We also touch on bad experiences in the Mental Health world, as well as personal questions for dealing with Mental Health. Amada wishes one day to own her own practice to create a different kind of atmosphere - she knows how it feels to go somewhere and not be met with Empathy.
