#45 - Noah Welch - Harvard Captain, NHL Pro and U.S. Olympian

Noah Welch was drafted in the second round of the 2001 National Hockey League Draft out of high school hockey in the Boston (MA) area.  Before going to professional hockey, Welch played four years with Harvard University, and was captain his final year.  In fact, he is in the Harvard University Athletics Hall Of Fame.  He graduated from Harvard in 2005, and began his pro career with Wilkes-Barre in the American Hockey League, but made his NHL debut late that season with the Penguins.

Welch played in North America for six seasons, playing with Pittsburgh, Florida, Tampa Bay and Atlanta in the NHL.  He also spent time in the AHL with Wilkes-Barre, Rochester and Chicago.  Then it was off to play in Sweden, Welch played seven seasons in the top professional league in that country.  Welch was able to play in the Olympics in his last year, representing Team USA in the 2018 Olympic Games in South Korea.
