    Out About And Connected

Social Isolation and loneliness is something a lot of us have felt since COVID however this isn't a new issue for the older LGBTI+ community. In this episode Vanessa Pidwell (she/her), Support Officer for Switchboards Out and About Program, talks about the upcoming Out, About And Connected online event. This event aims to uplift and connect Lesbian, Bisexual/Pansexual women, Trans and Non-binary people over 50 with each other and services that will support and affirm our individual, unique journeys as we age.  We discuss the importance of this program especially in regional areas, the event itself and differences between the generations.  For the trivia segment Vanessa's LGBTIQ+ history knowledge was put to the test. For this weeks news in our community Sarah discussed The appointment of the new Victorian Commissioner for the LGBTIQ+ communities, Todd Fernando (he/him). 'Finding yourself another family' A discussion on this years Barwon Pride Cup and how it is much more than just playing football in rainbows.

Pride Cup involves so much more than just playing football in rainbows. In the lead up to events participating teams are involved in education sessions and learn about how we can be more inclusive to the whole LGBTIQ+ community. Barwon Leagues Senior Womens Football Pride Cup in 2021 will feature two games at the Anthony Costa Oval in South Geelong on Sunday 27/06/21 1pm Division 2 - St Mary's (2) Vs. Drysdale and 3pm Division 1 - St Mary's (1) Vs. Grovedale.  Molly (she/her) and Grace (she/her) from Division 1 St Mary's discuss the 2019 event and what they are hoping to see at future events. Although this years event is scaled back we are glad to be back playing footy together. This will be St Mary' Division 2, Grovedale (Division 1) and Drysdale's (Division 2) first year involved in the Barwon Pride Cup. Steph (she/her) and Georgie (she/her) from Division 2 Drysdale Hawk's discuss visibility and acceptance over the years and how far we still have to go. All of us were able to speak about how football helped us find our community and was a valuable part of feeling accepted which still in 2021 doesn't necessarily translate to the rest of our lives.   If you have any questions, feedback or would like to be involved send us a message on facebook, instagram or email us pride@ocrfm.org.au For more information regarding this years event please visit: https://fb.me/e/1TVaPnGma To find out more information regarding Pride Cup and other Pride Cup games please visit: https://pridecup.org.au/ To find out more information regarding AFL Barwon please visit:  https://www.facebook.com/aflbarwon/

'I am trans but it's only one part of my identity'. Exploring the letter T for Trans and Gender Diverse with Jay.

This is our sixth episode of our series one redo. This series we explore the LGBTIQ+ acronym with guest presenters from the community. Please check out our first episode for this series for a broader understanding of sexuality and gender. Sarah has learnt a lot since beginning the show and as such decided a relaunch of series one for the one year anniversary would be perfect. This episode covers the letter 'T' for Trans and Gender Diverse with guest Jay (he/him) who identifies as Trans Masculine and Bisexual. For current affairs in our community Sarah discussed her recent interview on Lance TV (simulcast to Lance TV Ballarat and Channel 31 Melbourne) and one of the viewer questions regarding trans and gender diversity inclusion in sport. We explore Jay's journey and how he experienced societal expectations in regards to gender. We also discussed what transitioning can involve and how TV shows are becoming better at Trans and Gender Diverse visibility. We also tested Jay's knowledge with a Transgender History quiz. For events in our community Sarah mentioned OCRtober, Pink Up Colac and Geelong Pride Film Festival. If you have any questions, feedback or would like to be involved send us a message on facebook, instagram or email us pride@ocrfm.org.au Send in your question before 16/10/2020 to hear it live on the next episode (please note music and question time is now only on the live episode and not in the podcast). Jay does not currently have any public social media but when if he ever does we will add in that information. 'Son: Dad I'm bisexual / Dad: Hi Bisexual, I'm Dad.' Exploring the letter B for Bisexual with Ethan

This is our fifth episode of our series one redo. This episode covers the letter 'B' for Bisexual with guest Ethan (he/him). It was important for us to have an interview with a bisexual man as we feel there isn't enough bi men representation! For current affairs in our community Sarah discussed Pope Francis and his recent change in heart towards our community. Although it's a small step, it's in the right direction! We explore the differences between bisexual and pansexuality and how for some people being bisexual really is the only stage. We also discuss the beauty of dad jokes and how we shouldn't need to change the way we look to attract the same gender. If you have any questions, feedback or would like to be involved send us a message on facebook, instagram or email us pride@ocrfm.org.au Send in your question before 4/10/2020 to hear it live on the next episode (please note music and question time is now only on the live episode and not in the podcast). Ethan does not currently have any public social media but if he ever does we will add in that information.
