    On this weeks episode we discuss a very important topic of childhood abuse and trauma with a focus specifically on physical abuse, sexual abuse and neglect. We also discuss some of the warning signs that people need to look out for. Childhood abuse and trauma is a serious issue in the black communities and it is important that we understand the significant impact it can have on the child. We also provide some resources to help families who might be impacted by childhood abuse to seek help and support.

    October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and so we thought it was important for us to have an open and honest conversation about domestic violence/intimate partner violence. For this conversation we defined what domestic violence is and some types of DV as well as warning signs. We also discussed a recent event of DV incident where a young woman lost her life. Join us for this important topic area as well as some resources for anyone who would like assistance or help if they find themselves in a domestic Violence situation.

On this episode we give a brief overview of what trauma means and some events that can lead to trauma as well as some symptoms of trauma. Often times people also wonder if trauma is a mental illness. Families in all parts of the world were forced to shift gears to do things differently than what they were accustom to. For many families schools closing down forced many caregivers to become educators with no other options. As the new school year has started in some places and other places are in the process of starting there is a great deal of concern from parent and even educators about the unknown.     In continuation with our podcast from las week we thought it was important that we continue to have our discussion on Depression but more so with a focus on Prenatal and postpartum. We share personal experences as it relates to the subject matter because it is important that people understand that they are not alone in this. Having a baby is suppose to be the most exciting, happy and joyous moments of any mothers life but what if that was not the case for eveyone. Some women experience Prenatal depressed and some experience postpartum depression.
