In medicine, altruism refers to acting in "the best interest of patients, not self-interest." The current system continues to exploit the altruism of healthcare professionals which has lead to dire consequences in the form of physician burnout and suicide. A small, but effective, way to combat these consequences is to increase reward and recognition.

"Flowers for Algernon" hopes to provide a glimpse into the lives of healthcare professionals, take a deep dive into the ups and downs of working in the medical field, and give these folks the flowers they deserve before they are gone.
