The world of leadership is rife with information, listicles and re-hashed advice. We all know that we need to have more difficult conversations, be kinder and more empathetic with those we lead, and walk the path of servant leadership.

And yet we rarely seem to get any closer to developing ourselves as the leaders we wish to be. Instead, we clutter our brains with more information, enact a new promise to ourselves and those around us to lean in and show up more powerfully than we did last time, and somehow remain running around in circles.

There’s no shortage of advice available to create incremental change, and they provide exactly that: create incremental change. You get better at doing what you already do, but slightly faster and slightly better. Boring.

This podcast will NOT provide you with incremental change. It will expose your hidden genius, unlock a new level of mastery in yourself, and, provide you paths to creating exponential power and growth.

Ep 308: The Ontology of the Nursing Profession

Ep 308: The Ontology of the Nursing Profession

In this episode, we will talk about the ontology of the nursing profession. We will discuss what is happening in the profession and how we can change it up and go differently.
In the medical profession, especially in the nursing profession, we see a lot of the qualities of generosity and contribution. A lot of people have a great deal of quality of generosity or contribution.
These are people for whom they existentially lit up by the act of being generous. Giving to others regardless of what they might get feels good. They want to do that. It's just who they are.
As they grow up, they learn to become afraid of being not enough or they are too much. The flavor of not being enough for generosity is that you are selfish, and the flavor of being too much is like being unpleasant or overwhelming.
Listen and know why too much generosity can be a recipe for resentment leading to selfishness. Enjoy the show!

Ep 307: The Ontology of Micromanaging

Ep 307: The Ontology of Micromanaging

Typically, micromanaging is when you have someone good with the tools, and they move to a higher position. Once they move to a position where they are managing other people and their job is to support people to do their work, they have a degree of derivation or removal from the issue they have. Later, they delegate stuff and tell you what you need to do more or ask if you have done it every 30 seconds.
The impact of being micromanaged is that we are left feeling untrusted and controlled.
Micromanaging is one of those things that we need to acknowledge the way it exists in society. It exists as a label that we slap across the face of someone we don't like.
Listen as we dive deep into what is the being behind micromanagement and what is happening when you have yourself or someone else micromanaging. Enjoy the show!

Ep 306: How a Leader Gains Confidence

Ep 306: How a Leader Gains Confidence

In this episode of The Transformational Leader, we talked about confidence. How does a leader gain confidence? A lot of leaders would relate to themselves as having confidence. What we get is a lack of self-trust and confidence.
What a leader needs is a deeper level of confidence. A level of confidence that we call sovereignty. The ability to let feedback in and find our true north in the midst of that.
When we are confident in ourselves, we can explore doubt and check it. Leaders who can do this become more transformative because they can receive people, and people feel listened to.
Listen as we talk about how to develop confidence, and how this shows up in leaders. Enjoy the show!

    Ep 305: Moving Beyond Authenticity

    Ep 305: Moving Beyond Authenticity

The advice that we hear non-stop is that you need to be authentic to be a leader. Most people are frustrated because they are authentic to the team, yet it is still not working.
There are stages of authenticity a leader walks through. The first stage is when you focus on making everyone around you feel okay. The second stage is you go from keeping yourself to allowing it to be spoken out loud. At this stage, people are transparent. And for the third stage, you move beyond authenticity of self as your sole goal. Leaders must walk through these three stages.
Listen as we dive deep into these stages. Why is it happening, and where authenticity is important? Enjoy the show!

    Ep 304: Humility and Leadership

    Ep 304: Humility and Leadership

The leader needs to be humble. We love that as a concept, but what we do is we try to conduct ourselves in a way that we deem humble to avoid being humbled.
The irony is that people will talk about how important it is to be humble as a leader. But then, we are actively taking every possible step to avoid the experience of being humbled.
Being humbled is not an easy experience. To be humbled, we must be willing to confront and face our arrogance. We end up empowering others to not step into the spotlight ourselves.
Some people are so allergic to the idea that they might be arrogant and hide behind the safety of this performative humility. Sometimes, what a leader needs to do is to empower while holding the spotlight. Sometimes, what a leader needs to do is to be the one who stands and allows themselves to be praised and take credit.
Listen as you learn more about humble leadership, servant leadership, and more! Enjoy the show!
