Hiiiiiii. Lindsay and Paige here: two therapists and mothers with a mission to provide affordable evidence based resources to parents of neurodivergent children. When we're not working with children and their parents in therapy or recording for the pod, you can find us hanging out at home with our families, surviving on diet coke or coffee, and binge-watching true crime. We're here to make the intersection between therapy and parenting relatable with education, support, and SMASHING parental stigma. Grab your favorite caffeinated beverage and buckle up for the ride.

S4e13; Co-Regulation: How it Works and Why We Need it

This week we’re discussing co-regulation. We walk you through what co-regulation is, why we need it and we get a little science-y. You know how Paige loves to get into the neuroscience of it all. Not only is co-regulation an evolutionary skill, but it’s an integral part in our children being able to learn how to regulate their emotions on their own someday. Tune in to learn more about how we use our own emotions to support the emotions of our children.

    S4e12; Interview With Gina Prosch

This week we’d like to extend a very warm welcome to Gina Prosch. Gina is an award-winning children’s book author. Her new book Hope! More Than Wishful Thinking [Boys Town Press, March 11th 2024] is the second in the Holly’s Choice series and teaches kids that while it is important to have hope, wishful thinking alone is not enough to help us achieve our goals. Together we’re going to cover topics including what inspired her book Hope! More Than Wishful Thinking, how can we teach our children to be active participants in positive emotions, how we can model positive emotions to our kids to help build their emotional resiliency,

    S4e10; Self-Care for Parents

This week we’re deep-diving into self-care. What comes to your mind when we mention self-care? If it’s expensive and bougie, then we highly recommend you take a listen. Together, we talk through several different ideas that you can utilize for self-care, why it’s important, and how to weave it throughout your day. The first rule of this episode: Take what works and leave what doesn’t, and always remember: self-care is intimately defined by you, and you are the only one who can ensure what you’re doing is self-care.

    S4ep9; Radical Acceptance

What comes to mind when you hear Radical Acceptance? As humans, we spend a lot of time being upset about things that aren’t in our control. Radical acceptance is taking the concept that we can’t change what’s happening, so how do we navigate the challenge? We talk through why this is important in parenting neurodivergent children and how to implement this concept to create a smoother experience in your parenting journey.

    S4e8; Interview w/ Carina

Welcome back to Mindful As A Mother! Today we are welcoming a special guest all the way from Austria, Carina Wahringer. We strongly believe that the most important voices in parenting and living with neurodivergence come from the individuals themselves. Carina is a strong example of a neurodivergent mother with neurodivergent children just trying to wing parenthood like the rest of us. Together, we talk about how Carina knew she’s neurodivergent, what it's like parenting as a neurodivergent individual and parenting neurodivergent children, and her biggest struggles and strengths in neurodivergence.
