Within each of our bodies is a tremendous healing potential.

Just like our bodies know how to heal when we cut ourselves, they also know how to heal bigger health issues, many of which we are led to believe by Western medicine are "permanent."

However, sometimes things like trauma, stress, and environmental factors get in the way of that healing. Thus to truly heal, we need to find ways to unleash that healing potential again.

The show covers a variety of topics-- from mindset in healing, to stories of those who have healed from health issues labelled permanent by Western medicine, to interviews with guest experts who have knowledge outside of Lyn's expertise, to talking about some of the latest research into how our bodies work. Everything is focused on helping YOU to unleash the potential your body has to heal itself!

This podcast was formerly called "You Are Not Your Diagnosis" but has been changed to a new name to broaden the focus beyond just chronic illness related topics.

Healing From Kidney Failure and the Power of Craniosacral Therapy

Healing From Kidney Failure and the Power of Craniosacral Therapy

In this episode, Lyn interviews Etienne Peirsman who shares his story of being in almost complete kidney failure after a staph infection. He talks about his near death experience and how stillness and listening to his intution allowed his body to heal itself.
We also dove into what craniosacral is (I highly recommend it!), why it is an important modality to support healing, and the importance of touch in our health and healing.

    About Etienne:
Highly inspirational and respected teacher in the field of CranioSacral, Etienne Peirsman came to Cranio in a non-traditional fashion. After a a staph infection left him with nearly 20% kidney function, he found that preparing to die brought him the clarity of total silence. In a remarkable turn of events, he was able to heal his own body, which led him to travel to the Osho International Meditation Center, where he was first introduced to Cranio, during an immersive meditation and bodywork training.

Etienne describes Cranio as the the closest thing to that wonderful silence he found during his near death experience, and from that time, 31 years ago, it became his life's passion.

His journey led him first to apprentice at the Upledger Institute in Florida, then teach at Bastyr University in Washington and the New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts. He is the founder of Peirsman Cranio as well as the CranioSacraal Therapie Academy in Holland, where he originated the CranioSacral Professional Organization and is an honorary member of The Dutch CranioSacral Practitioner Society.

Author of the pioneering book, "Craniosacral Therapy for Babies and Small Children" published by Penguin Random House, Etienne is about to publish his second book "Tantric Aspects of CranioSacral".

It is truly a unique experience to learn Cranio from such a passionate, talented teacher who infuses his classes with good humor and a deep dive into stillness. He strives to use simple language that engages our spontaneity. His methods are the middle ground between biomechanics Upledger style and biodynamic Sutherland style.

In his classes, students learn to start from a no-mind space, a place where the mind can take a vacation, allowing their practice to unfold in non-duality, or what he calls the Midline.

He emphasizes the power of touch to stimulate the secretion of oxytocin, a hormone that brings a feeling of oneness and values clarity as the result of being in touch with that Midline that connects us with our life-force, our true and infinite potential.

Etienne travels the world with his life partner Toshiko, teaching where he is invited to share this opportunity of radical self transformation. He is also launching his first ever online class, that will have fascinating lectures and detailed instruction on all the hand placements, as a resource for students to learn and enjoy Cranio.

What 2 Suicide Attempts Taught Me About Finding Joy in Life with Susan Michel

What 2 Suicide Attempts Taught Me About Finding Joy in Life with Susan Michel

In this episode, Lyn interview Susan Michel who shares her story of being a 2-time suicide survivor. Susan talks about what made her want to commit suicide and what pulled her back to choosing to live.
In addition, we talk about the book "A Course in Miracles," as well as Susan's newly released book "Surrender to Joy." Susan talks about the importance of slowing down, feeling our emotions, and how doing so ultimately leads to healing and joy. We discuss why focusing on positive thinking alone can actually create blocks to the results that we want.

    About Susan:
Susan is a 2-time suicide survivor and author of Surrender to Joy: From Suicide to Serenity. Based on the principles of A Course in Miracles, a spiritual thought system that she has studied and taught for 33 years, she helps women identify and process emotional pain so transformation can occur and they can grow and open up to their innate brilliance. In today's world we are taught that to create a positive life, we must think positive thoughts. That is only partial truth. Without stepping into our pain first, joy is impossible.

Susan initially learned this truth while struggling with clinical depression in 1985. As a young woman, she felt abandoned and betrayed by her dad and everyone else in her life. Her life's journey hit a major turning point at the age of 20 when she tried to commit suicide twice. With 6 bottles of sleeping pills inside of her, she imagined her father lying over ger dead body in tears. She wanted him to feel her pain. Then she realized that sheI didn't really want to die, she just wanted to kill the pain.

Her joy was on the other side of all of that pain and she  didn't have the tools to process it. Once she found them, she found that the keys to true transformation are forgiveness and gratitude.
Her business is Trust Transformational Truth. When we can trust our inner guidance system instead of trying to prove our worth, life starts to flow more smoothly.
