    Anthony Rowett is back on the show and is always bringing some good talking points. Jumping right in on the importance of training, but more importantly, training your people to act up. One of the greatest compliments for any company officers is that their crew performed at the same level whether you were working with them or off for the tour. Setting the expectations up front and working with your crew to know the roles of the next guy will ultimately set your company up for success. A true testament to your mentorship is letting your people soar. With the right foundation, competent officers push their people to be better, to do more and to leave the nest. "Upholding the standard" is a non-negotiable for Anthony. He is dedicated and passionate about the intensity it takes to do this job correctly. His mentors gave him a solid base to build from and he knows that it is his responsibility to pass along the discipline it takes to excel. His commitment to training has lead him to forming the Alabama Firefighters Training Foundation which has recently changed names because of the tremendous success this not for profit has had. Now titled, the National Firefighters Training Foundation, this foundation brings training across the country while keeping costs extremely low or none at all. The mission is to provide top shelf training and exposure to some of the most influential names in the fire service to everyone. Their partnerships have helped them fulfill this mission and the foundation, just like Anthony, is not slowing down anytime soon.

    376. "All About Impact" - Dan Shaw

    Recently retired from Fairfax County, VA Fire and Rescue, Assistant Chief of Operations Dan Shaw has had a great run. With 32 years in the fire service, the past 29 with Fairfax County, he realized it was time to take a step back and let others continue to push the job forward. Early on, Dan had a tremendous love for the engine, busier the better. He didn't think promoting up the line was really for him but over time he realized in order to have a voice, you need to have a seat at the table. During his journey, he challenged himself to learn and educate himself along the way. As a student of the fire service, his drive and passion has opened many doors for him. Taking part in the West Point Leadership Program, being apart of the Traditions Training cadre, writing articles, authoring a book with his good friend Doug Mitchell and being the keynote speaker at FDIC 2022, his list of accomplishments is numerous. But his humbled foundation and passion for his people has kept him grounded. New to retirement, Dan has plenty on his plate and he looks forward to future opportunities. He has so much to offer and his delivery is crisp, Dan Shaw will continue to impact the job as he continues to grow his first beard and finds other things to fill his everyday. But one thing is certain, he has plenty still to do which will continue to push this job forward.
