People Pleasing:

Losing Yourself, Seeking Approval, and Avoiding Disappointment

We continue with our series, The Impact of Being a Rushing Woman, Episode # 37. One symptom of being a rushing woman is people pleasing.

Are you a people pleaser? Check yourself by looking at these 6 questions:

Do you often feel overwhelmed?

Do you beat yourself up for not being enough?

Are you constantly looking for ways to feel love or be praised and have a difficult time seeing that you are loved?

Do you have a hard time asking for help?

Do you find yourself saying yes when you really mean no?

Do you experience a lot of guilt?

Galatians 6: 2 verses and 5 gives a good description of people pleasing and boundary crossing.

2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

5 for each one should carry their own load.

We are instructed to help others with their burdens, which are problems beyond our ability to handle. But, to let others carry their own load or backpack, which are problems we are equipped to take care of. Are you carrying someone else’s load or backpack? Could that be why you are feeling weighed down, exhausted, and like you have to rush?

Learning to set boundaries are a great way to treat people pleasing. Lisa leads us through a practice that will help you think about boundaries more clearly.
