We have such a strong tendency of focusing on all the things that are not going right in our lives, all the things that are missing, and everything we dislike about ourselves. A lot of our attention and focus is consumed by negative and simply unnecessary stuff that doesn't make us feel better in any way, but quite the contrary makes us unhappy and miserable.
