    AI 27 - The Knowledge

This week, we wrap up the Squeeze discography with their 2017 album, The Knowledge. On this outing, the band pushes the excitement, inventiveness, and energy of Cradle to the Grave up to 11. When it hits, it really hits ("Innocence in Paradise," "Departure Lounge," "Patchouli"), but it's by no means perfect ("A&E," "Rough Ride"). Also, still no Difford lead vocal--what's up with that? Sitting in the guest host chair this week, Paul Mosier. Talking to Paul is always a trip. You never know where the conversation is going to go, and it's fantastic. Paul is the author of a number of books, including three middle grade novels for HarperCollins: Train I Ride, Echo's Sister, and Summer and July (forthcoming). Be sure to check out Paul's work and follow him on social media: http://bit.ly/2JK2MYu (Paul's HarperCollins page) https://novelistpaulmosier.wordpress.com/ @mosier_paul on Twitter As always, I want to stress the importance of supporting the artists that are featured on this series, whether that’s through buying their music and merch, attending one of their concerts, or even simply following them on social media. Squeeze is indeed very active, recording and touring both as a band, and Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford with their respective solo endeavors--see them in whatever capacity you're able. Additionally, keep up to date on all their latest doings at http://www.squeezeofficial.com/ and through their social media (@squeezeogram on, appropriately, Instagram and @squeezeofficial on Twitter). --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/album-infinitum/support

AI 26 - Cradle to the Grave

On deck for this week's episode, the first Squeeze album of all new material after a 17 year period, Cradle to the Grave, and what an album it is! So much energy! Great tunes! The band sounds vibrant, refreshed, and like they're enjoying what they're doing. Sitting in the co-host chair for this discussion is writer and What the Fork? co-host, Jason Keil. No, you're not reading that wrong, Jason is back--it only seemed fair to have him back to talk about a better album than Domino. Be sure to check out Jason's work in PHOENIX Magazine, The New Times, and on his website: Twitter and Instagram: @jasonekeil http://www.jasonkeil.com/ As always, I want to stress the importance of supporting the artists that are featured on this series, whether that’s through buying their music and merch, attending one of their concerts, or even simply following them on social media. 3. AI 24 - Ridiculous

    AI 24 - Ridiculous

On deck for this week's episode, Squeeze's 1995 album, Ridiculous. Released at the height of britpop, Squeeze's label saddled them with the slogan "The godfathers of britpop" and pushed Heaven Knows--perhaps one of their worst singles--into the upper echelons of the charts. The album is the band's most stylistically diverse, and as the conversation with guest host Tyler Button (founder and writer behind Tapestry Comics) points out, the experimentalism of the album is not always entirely successful. There are some definite highlights here, though, including Daphne, Electric Trains, Fingertips, and more. Check out the cool work Tyler's doing over at Tapestry! https://www.tapestrycomics.com/ As always, I want to stress the importance of supporting the artists that are featured on this series, whether that’s through buying their music and merch, attending one of their concerts, or even simply following them on social media. AI 23 - Some Fantastic Place

On deck for this week's episode, Squeeze's 1993 album, Some Fantastic Place. Back on A&M records, with their first album since Chris Difford  bugged out and got sober, the band sounds vibrant, reinvigorated--hopeful even. SFP features some of their best songs, including Third Rail, the title track, It's Over, Jolly Comes Home, and the album closer, Pinocchio. The album also sees the increasingly prevalent lineup changes with the departure of Gilson Lavis from the drum chair, to be replaced by The Attractions' Pete Thomas, and the return of Paul Carrack on keys. Doug Bale is back in the co-host seat and enjoying Carrack's presence on the album.
