    Binge Eating Triggers + Updates on the Show!

    Big update for Hate to Weight-ers! John and I have decided to take a break from recording regularly. We talk about our triggers for our own binge-eating, as well. Sometimes knowing the triggers for us helps us be a lot more mindful about how we react.     John's Whirlwind Week and Delicious Drive-Thru Options

    Another week of quarantine and tensions rising. John ended his last episode recording and the rest of his week was a whirlwind of anxiety, sickness and a death scare! But luckily, everyone is OK. Life isn’t easy for many of us, and while staying healthy is important, there’s a lot we’re all juggling. We want to take this opportunity to remind yourself to have grace for yourself and others. He starts off the episode talking about how getting BBQ turns into a death scare! John’s audio drops are superb! John has some anxiety over not feeling well. And this is after the earlier death scare! Isn’t it weird that you don’t wake up while your fever’s breaking? Only after you’re all sweaty. Anger and frustration can be such a confusing emotion, especially in how people release it. Don’t forget to apologize! We apologize for the delay in getting out episodes — we really appreciate your patience with our episode releases. John is doing his own yoga poses now and made his own yoga playpen. Only 10 minutes a day! Emily’s enjoying getting her vegetables from Mexican food and Taco Bell lately. We love our fast food here at Hate to Weight and over the years, we’ve found that’s not the worst drive-thru food we could get! The Power Bowl is really filling and not too bad! Emily loves Amy’s frozen burritos. Let us know if you’ve had them and which ones you enjoy! Pulled pork sliders with coleslaw, everyone! It’s delicious! We’re all in a state of Decision Fatigue pretty much all the time. Emily put out this theory and you’ll see a Rolling Stone article about it below in the links section. It’s funny that we talked about this weeks ago, but the mask debate apparently doesn’t get old. Speaking of takeout, the Burger King Impossible Whopper is pretty good! Emily is doing Maintenance Mode and doing her thing in her plateau. She can see her progress but still getting comfortable with her “new” body. We’re transitioning the show to be less about looking at the scale, but more about trying to get healthy. John’s worried about getting “stuffocated” by brisket and corn bread. John’s going back to more compression on his legs and the whooshie pill again. What was the last vegetable you ate? Usually when Emily’s in a funk, she’ll ask herself that. Even though Emily finds she doesn’t have to count calories, she still realizes that eating healthy will make Future-Emily happy. John’s thinking of trying yoga! We have a nice big yoga discussion and Emily geeked out because this is her favorite form of movement. John likes to use this podcast as a form of therapy, Emily uses her journal for the same reason. Being able to hear or see your own words can help you get a lot of clarity into what you truly feel. John’s best form of dealing with the news is to find the humor in it, and then the internet arguments start. We have some great #WinningWednesday posts, and we’re putting some new prompts in the group! Gratitude is the Attitude! Emily became a certified life coach  — and will soon be certified in mindfulness, as well! Dut-dut! We talk a bit about podcast editing and our workflows toward the end. John has been finding a lot of his usual favorites are not available in grocery stores as much, oh no! We got a question in our chat (thanks Don!) before going live that we talk about a lot in this episode about using sweetener during Intermittent Fasting. While we are not experts, we explain some of where our information came from that we go by. Neither of us can do cheat days, so it’s interesting to learn how other people use them. Emily is using IF to feel good and no longer to lose weight. She’s in maintenance mode. Are you a rebel and a rule-breaker like John? (And Emily the rule-breaker comes out every so often.) John talks about his opinion about wearing a mask and gives us a very visual analogy about why using a mask is important, oh my! There is a lot of COVID-Talk in this episode. It’s still on the top of our minds. And a lot of our food choices have also been affected. What if we knew there was an asteroid coming to the earth, what would you go out and buy? Emily thought it would be food, but it turns out, when she really thought about it, it would be a pack of cigarettes (and possibly a cigarette holder?) John is finding his anxiety is driving his eating disorder a bit. And we are now noticing just how prone to germs and infection we really are.
