I've been struggling this week to move past a certain situation. I've used my voice, shared my feelings and my truth and guess what? Nothing changed. I still don't feel heard and all weekend I've been carrying anger around inside of me.
Are you anything like me? Do you have times where you hold onto anger, times where you let other people, situations or circumstances steal your peace and your joy?
As a young boy I learned that forgiveness was about turning the other cheek, being the bigger person and letting things go... but there is still a little boy inside of me that wants to scream "but that's NO FAIR"
As I recover, heal and grow I'm working to learn that forgiveness is a gift from God and it's a gift that brings peace and freedom.
Forgiveness doesn't make the other person right, it doesn't make what I deem "unfair" go away and it doesn't erase the pain or trauma. It doesn't change the things on an earthly or material level.
Forgiveness provides freedom, peace and release on a much more important level. It provides freedom on a spiritual level.
During my morning reading today the topic of forgiveness "magically" came up... the words spoke truth into me. I adapted those words and turned them into this meditation to help me learn to forgive.
My hope is that these words may also speak to you and help you learn to forgive and allow more love into your life.
