How many of us grew up hearing the expression, “Don’t cry over spilled milk?” What if we told you it dated back 200 years ago to a disaster in a tiny Swiss town where a dairy cart tipped over, drowning four residents in a giant milky wave? That sounds right, doesn’t it?  Or does it come from old English lore – from a time when people still strongly believed in fairies and it was common practice to lay out food and drink offerings, including milk?
