Commissioner Brett Yormark and the Big 12 Conference have experienced an eventful journey. In recent weeks, the league secured its future by incorporating Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah into its ranks, expanding its membership to 16 teams. Following the departure of these four teams, alongside Oregon and Washington's move to the Big Ten, the PAC 12 Conference is left with only four remaining members: Cal, Oregon State, Stanford, and Washington State. Initially, there was speculation that Yormark and the Big 12 might consider absorbing the remaining PAC 12 teams, potentially making history as the first conference with 20 members. However, it seems that the Big 12 has no intentions of pursuing this avenue. As reported by Brett McMurphy of The Action Network, the Big 12 has indicated that it will not be seeking further additions. This development is not entirely unexpected. The remaining PAC 12 schools, often referred to as the "forgotten four," do not bring substantial added value. Unlike the new entrants who are set to receive a full revenue share upon joining, any potential invite extended by the Big 12 would likely not come with immediate equal revenue sharing privileges.
