Poison

48 Hours

On December 2, 2000, Eric Miller died in a Raleigh, NC hospital and blood tests revealed that he had been poisoned with arsenic. Police discovered that Eric’s wife, Ann, was having an affair with her co-worker, Derril Willard. Derril killed himself after being questioned by police, but before he died he had a confidential conversation with his attorney. In the spring of 2004, the North Carolina Supreme Court ruled that Derril's attorney must reveal what Derril had told him about Ann’s role in Eric’s murder. “48 Hours" correspondent Troy Roberts reports. This classic "48 Hours" episode last aired on 1/1/2011. Watch all-new episodes of “48 Hours” on Saturdays, and stream on demand on Paramount+.
